Known as North Carolina's "oldest travel attraction," Blowing Rock's views are almost as inspiring as the legend behind it. The story says that a Chickasaw woman and Cherokee man became lovers after the woman noticed him atop Blowing Rock in the plain below. One day, the sign of a red sky signaled to the man that his tribe was in trouble. Driven by duty, he threw himself off the rock to the wilderness below. The woman grieved and prayed consistently for her lover to be returned to her. One night, as the sky reddened on Blowing Rock, a gust of wind blew the man back onto The Rock and into the woman's arms. Since that day, a constant wind has blown up from valley below. Located 45 minutes from our venue, you can simply drive up and park to take a look!
