Chris: One warm August afternoon in a basement laboratory at Earlham College, I sat at a round table with my notebook and pen, ready to listen intently to the first of many lectures on Ecological Biology. A few places away on the table sat Maeesha, taking notes with the best handwriting I have ever seen and an even better, captivating smile. We became lab partners for a semester-long project to investigate the palate of squirrels; whether they preferred plain, colored, salty or spicy nuts (you'll have to ask us in-person what our fascinating findings were). Needless to say, we soon became very good friends throughout college and began dating after both of us graduated and the rest, as they say is history! Maeesha: Chris tells the story way better than I can :) - I remember becoming friends as soon as we met and an effortless bond formed instantaneously. I guess feeding squirrels together at 6 am will do that! (I do feel sorry for the squirrels though - at hindsight, how did we manage to get approval for that experiment again?). The first thing I noticed about Chris was how kind, warm and funny he was. If I had to choose my favorite class in college, it was probably Eco-Bio and Chris had a lot to do with! I was lucky to have shared the most fundamental years of my life (college days! Whoo hoo!) with Chris - a friend who I could count on unconditionally through thick and thin! The best things in life indeed take time - and with the foundation of our friendship that keeps growing stronger by day, I can't be happier to have found love with my bestfriend.
