Madeleine first spotted Griffin across the dance floor at Press Play, an arcade-themed bar on Pearl Street in Boulder, back in 2019. She couldn’t help but notice his blonde hair, height, and the fact he was wearing a Colorado Avalanche shirt. After eyeing him throughout the night, he walked past, and she took it as her chance to say hello. Except she didn’t just say hello. She asked him if anyone had ever told him he looked like Mikko Rantanen. To which he responded “No, but I’ve been told my play style is like Landeskog.” They spent the rest of the night talking hockey and playing foosball with their friends. (Madeleine and Griffin did not win. They don’t talk about it.) At the end of the night, Griffin asked Madeleine if he could give her his number. Shortly after, the two went on their first date at the CU Rec center. Unsurprisingly, they went ice skating. From there the topic of conversation expanded from hockey to dogs and families, and we've been together ever since.
