If you are looking to explore all of Ireland a rental car might be a great fit for you! Please check out the travel section to see rental car options and ones that we have used! Of note, when driving in Ireland you will have to drive on the opposite side of the road and the roads can be narrow. If you can, I would highly recommend a smaller or compact car if possible. While having a car may be nice, Dublin is a very walkable city with plenty of taxi's and Ubers. If going to the most popular destinations in Ireland, many tour groups are offered with transportation and there is a train that can take you to other major cities!
The average temperature at that time is usually a high of 50F and a low of 40F. Ireland is well known for its constantly changing weather throughout the day so please make sure to have clothing for all sorts of weather as there is likely to be intermittent rain showers!
Tipping culture is very different from the US. Tipping is not mandatory, but it is most common at sit down meals in a restaurant, pub or cafe. It is not common to tip at a pub if just ordering drinks. If tipping, it is most common to leave a 10% tip, but do not tip if service charge is included! Tipping by credit card is available in some placed but not all, so cash may be easier!
In short, look at your devices/USB chargers to see if they are Dual Voltage, which will read like this: [50-60 Hz, 120-230V] This means that the internal electronics will function on both the US and Irish power grids. They also use a Type G outlet, so on top of seeing if your electronics will function on their electricity, you'll need an adapter to be able to plug into their outlets. We've used this charger successfully very recently if you need to pick one up! https://a.co/d/bAx4v0Q Also please please double check to ensure your devices are dual voltage - Attempting to plug any devices that strictly run on 120V/60 Hz will leave them fried!
Ireland operates off of the Euro. Unless you plan on using cash, anywhere that you can use a credit card will automatically convert currencies through your bank. If you would like to carry cash on you, stopping off at an ATM operated by a Bank or Credit Union is ideal. *IMPORTANT - when withdrawing Euros from an ATM, or sometimes when making purchases using a credit card, you may be offered a conversion rate that you can choose to accept or decline. *ALWAYS CHOOSE TO DECLINE THIS CONVERSION RATE!* If you were to look up the conversion rate between USD/Euro, you'll find its significantly better than what you'll be offered, and that's because international ATMs make their money by grossly marking up their conversion rates. If you decline these offered conversion rates, it will instead default to the conversion rate between your bank and the bank operating the ATM, which will be much closer to the true conversion rate you'll look up online (for context, they'll try to charge you an extra $50 when withdrawing 300 EUR if you accept the ATM's conversion rate)
