We want our guests to look and feel their absolute best on our big day, so we have chosen to have a black tie formal affair. Ladies are requested to wear formal, floor-length evening gowns in any color (except white or cream). Gentlemen are requested to wear a black tuxedo or dark-colored (Black, Navy, or Grey) suit and tie / bowtie. Feel free to reach out with any questions, or just to send us your outfit inspo!
We have gotten this question a lot and wanted to share— The groomsmen will be in black tuxedos, and bridesmaids will be in Citadel blue formal gowns with short white gloves.
Being a historic military college, The Citadel only allows approved professional photography inside the church. Because of this, no personal photos or videos will be allowed and we ask that all phones be left in the car if possible. But don’t worry, there will be lots of photo opportunities outside the church and at the reception!
Because of The Citadel’s strict scheduling, there will be a break between the ceremony and reception. This will allow for ample travel time to the reception venue while the bridal party and family take photos, which will allow us to be more present with our guests during the reception. Feel free to tour The Citadel’s campus, take a walk downtown, or head to your hotel to freshen up during this time! Since Charleston has lots of visitors over Memorial Day weekend, please allow for ample time to travel to the reception venue. It typically takes about 33 minutes from The Citadel’s campus!
If you received a plus one, it will be listed on your invitation. We would love to share our special day with as many people as possible, but due to venue restrictions, we are regrettably unable to extend invitations for additional plus ones or extra people not listed on your invitation. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you! If you think we made a mistake— please ask us!
While we adore your little ones, please note this will be an adult-only affair. We want you to be able to relax and enjoy the evening, and we appreciate you making arrangements for your kiddos ahead of time so you are able to celebrate with us!
We plan to serve our favorite Southern foods! Appetizers: Asparagus wrapped in Proscuitto with Boursin Cheese, Petite Crab Cakes, & Charcuterie Station Dinner: Beef Tenderloin, Turkey, Shrimp & Grits, Mac n Cheese, Green Beans & Bacon, Caesar Salad Late Night Snacks: Ballpark-Style Hamburgers & Hot Dogs
Please feel free to reach out to the bride and/or groom!
