Our First Date

We both Swiped Right

Michael had been one of my very first matches on Tinder. He complimented my 'impressive resume' and we began chatting. We messaged back and forth for several weeks, and we decided to meet. Our date was all set up, and I had to cancel rather unexpectedly as I had to attend an emergency rehearsal for a Cirque Indy Show. Discouraged Michael thought I was blowing him off, but we arranged another date--this one was successful. We had agreed to meet on my lunch break as I was working as a waitress at a sushi restaurant and was allotted a few hours between lunch and dinner. Michael was pescatarian, so I had suggested a gormet grilled cheese restaurant. I was the first to arrive and brought in some sushi with me. In walks Michael dressed full-out in a suit, and here I am in my soy sauce stained white shirt and work pants. We chatted easily for hours, snacking on sushi and grilled cheese until I had received a text from my mom. Being an only child, and agreeing to meet someone from the interweb, I had alerted my mom that I was going on this date at this location, at this time, here was his name, here's a photo....etc. This text is basically "911 emergency, call me". Alarmed, I call, and she tells me she needs butter. Now. Not wanting to end the date so abruptly, I invite Michael with me to the store and then to deliver the butter to my mom before my next shift starts. He, laughing, agrees and we walk around Marsh and drive over to my mom's house. She swears she was giving me an 'out' in case the date went poorly....but I think she just wanted to meet him. So Michael met my mom on our first date. She was impressed with his suit and his love of baking--as was I. As we drove back to my workplace, I learned that Michael had deleted his Tinder account. He knew right then and there. Our next date was 24 hours later, and went even better than the first. We stayed up all night watching odd movies and talking. It was pretty clear, even this early on, that we were the Perfect Match

The Proposal

In The Romance Capital of the World

Okay folks, so this is a great story of why you should always have, not just one back up, but 3. Madison and I were travelling were traveling to Europe for an international lightsaber tournament. Now I had just designed and sent for a exceptional ring specifically for Madison. I had this beautiful ring for my beautiful woman created to propose to her in the beautiful tulip fields in Amsterdam. The thing you have to understand about flowers is that they need to be picked within a particularly tight time frame and it varies based on the weather. Welp, we missed it. We missed by one week. Now that was only my first plan. My second was to travel to world heritage sight of all the polders in the Netherlands. Madison wanted nothing to do with that. Okay! No problem time for plan C. Plan C was to go to the sacred heart of Paris. It was the best place to go to since she is the center of my world and the view is gorgeous; that was it. Now to climb the biggest hill in Paris, walk through an extravagant church and wait until we were outside overlooking the whole of the city. I went down on one knee and popped the question. Surrounded by friends and guards that told us to keep it down. She said yes and all of my planning did not matter, it could have been anywhere because at the end of the day, all that mattered was she said yes.
