Des Moines' Downtown Farmers’ Market
This is a great place to spend your Saturday morning! We recommend getting the breakfast burrito and a dutch letter. This is open from 8am-12pm.
Science Center of Iowa
Tickets go for about $20 per person. They also have an IMAX theater so might be worth checking out what's playing!
The Back Nine Golf | Des Moines - Downtown
Indoor golf simulator in downtown Des Moines. It's about an 18 minute walk from The Hotel Fort Des Moines and a 25 minute walk from The Savery Hotel.
East Village
There's a ton of cute boutique shops with clothes and home decor, bookstores, Raygun, and fun places to eat around this part of Downtown! Depending on what hotel you're staying in it might be a 15-25 minute walk.
Gray's Lake Park
If you're feeling like being active, this is a 2.1-mile looped trail around the lake. This is a little bit outside of Downtown Des Moines though, so you'll most likely have to Uber here if you didn't rent a car. You’ll find snacks, drinks and watercraft rentals available for purchase on weekday evenings and weekends. Types of watercraft available to rent include canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats, row boats and sailboats — with life vests provided complimentary with each rental.
Living History Farms
Living History Farms is in Urbandale, Iowa so outside of Downtown Des Moines. You'll need to uber here if you didn't rent a car. This is a 500-acre open-air museum where you travel at your own pace through historical time periods in Iowa spanning 300 years. It's actually super cool.
Topgolf Des Moines
This is in West Des Moines so you'll need to drive/Uber here. It's about a 20 minute drive.
Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company
About a 12 minute walk from Hotel Fort Des Moines and a 6 minute walk from the Savery hotel. Patio section available outside and in the heart of the Des Moines Farmers Market.
Exile Brewing Company
They have great burgers, beers, and chicken bites! Great outdoor patio with inside seating as well. About a 10 minute walk from Hotel Fort Des Moines and a 20 minute walk from the Savery Hotel.
The Royal Mile
