On April 10, 2021, Zac and his friend, Ryan, texted their friend, Kevin, and made plans to meet for drinks at Wilder in the Marina of San Francisco. And, while he hadn’t mentioned it, Kevin had been hanging out with his friend and coworker, Madi, and he decided to bring her along. After introducing everyone, the conversations organically paired off and Zac and Madi found themselves talking to one another directly. A few drinks later and it was time to head to the next bar, Jaxson. While waiting in line, Madi was trying to call an Uber home (Zac didn’t realize it) as she figured it’d be a boys’ night. Before she secured a ride, Zac promptly sat down next to her and told her that he’d like to take her out to dinner (he skipped drinks because clearly, they were already out doing that). Zac was very convincing and assured her that he “knew all the best spots” in the city. She couldn’t resist his charm and natural charisma ;) and agreed. After giving him her number, Zac texted her a few days later to plan their first official date which was mini golf in Mission Bay! They quickly fell in love and went on trips to Tahoe, Twain Harte, Cancun, Las Vegas, and a cruise to the western Caribbean in their first year of dating. After a year, they moved in together and spent the next two years living in SF. They spent the two years eating at new restaurants, finding their next new favorite bar, and of course, escaping the city for weekend trips and traveling— including many trips to the mountains for snowboarding and spending time in cabins with good friends and family. However, their first few years together were anything but typical; while they had countless highs, it would be remiss not to mention these were coupled with some very low low’s. A few months into dating, Madi shared with Zac that she had lost her Mom to cancer eight years prior in 2013. While unknown to Madi at the time, she would later find out that Zac’s Dad had been fighting cancer for the past few years, and just eight months after meeting each other, Zac lost his Dad to cancer in January 2022. Suffice to say it was a very stressful and chaotic time, and of course, while cancer was not where they would have liked to find more connection, it seemed as though these parallel losses were perhaps another reason they had been brought together and helped Zac get through the lowest point in his life. Fast forward to August 2023, their relationship also guided them to the highest point in their lives: on a Tahoe getaway, they found out Madi was pregnant! While it came as a surprise (to say the least) and with some (healthy) panic, they quickly realized how undeniable the signs that it was unfolding exactly as it was meant to be were. From discovering the news in Tahoe to learning the baby boy’s due date was April 10, 2024— exactly three years to the day Zac and Madi first met that fateful night at a bar in SF— they were ultimately filled with immense gratitude and excitement for what was ahead. In February 2024, they moved to the burbs in Pleasanton and two short months later, on April 4, 2024, they welcomed their son, Brooks Dennis Hart, into the world with an overwhelming pour of love and awe. Their relationship, while full of its fair amount of standard happenings one might expect for a couple in their 20s, it has also traversed through a number of life-defining moments one might not expect for a couple in their 20s, with equal parts happy, sad, chaotic, and peaceful— and most recently a little sleep-deprived— it's all part of their story and they can’t wait for the next chapters. And, for that next major chapter— yes, you guessed it, The Wedding! — we are ecstatic and counting down the days until we get to celebrate with you all during Labor Day Weekend 2025 at the Edgewood Lake Tahoe Resort! So, meet us in the mountains (specifically on the dance floor) and get ready to party and raise your glasses to The Harts— all three of them! :)
