Mac and Maddie met three years ago on a dating app—both convinced it would be their last time swiping. At the time, Maddie was a single mom to an 11-month-old boy, Beckham. But from their very first date, something just clicked. By their third date, Maddie was attending Mac’s family Thanksgiving dinner! A few weeks later, Mac met Beckham for the first time at Schellville Christmas Village in Delaware. They spent over a year dating long distance, taking turns driving back and forth between Lancaster, PA and Newark, DE every weekend (an hour and ten minutes apart, but who’s counting?). In January of 2024, they decided to put down roots and bought a historic townhouse together in Lancaster. With the help of family and friends, they've loved turning it into a home. When Maddie graduated with her undergraduate degree in May, she and Beckham officially moved in full time. In October, they visited Lexington, VA to attend a wedding for one of Mac’s fraternity brothers. Mac had gone to Washington and Lee University for undergrad, and while strolling around campus the morning of October 12th, he proposed in front of the iconic Lee Chapel. Together, Mac and Maddie have experienced so many milestones—raising a child, graduation, law school acceptance, homeownership, and now engagement. Marriage is the next joyful chapter in their story. Their journey may not be traditional, but it’s theirs—and they wouldn’t change a thing.
