Corey and Maddie met when they were seven years old. They grew up just down the street from one another, going to the same schools and being in the same classes. They both were in band together in high school and began their relationship on a band trip to New Orleans. They continued their relationship at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Corey proposed on April 16th, 2020 on a hike with friends at Gooseberry Falls State Park.
