Tallahassee is the closest big city to St. George Island and is an easy one hour, 45 minute, or 80 mile, drive to the island. Several rental car options are available at THL, including Avis, Enterprise, Budget, Alamo, Hertz, and National.

Panama City Airport (ECP)
Panama City Airport is a small regional airport and at just over two hours' drive, or 95 miles, is just as good of a flight option as THL. Considering half the drive is right along the coast, the scenery might be a reason to go this route. Rental car options include Thrifty, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise, Dollar, and Avis.
