Capri is a popular day trip accessible by ferry from the Sorrento area. The boat ride is approximately 20-30 minutes. Once on the island you can explore Anacapri, visit the Blue Grotto or take a boat tour around the island, just to name a few things.
The Amalfi Coast is easily explored by ferry, private boat, or car. Popular stops include Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Ferries run frequently between the towns during the day and can be an easier way to get around.
A great option for history lovers! Visit the ancient city of Pompeii, just a short trip from Sorrento. The city is preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and offers a fascinating glimpse into daily Roman life. Herculaneum was located closer to Vesuvius and was buried by mud rather than ash which preserved buildings in incredible detail.
Located in Vesuvio National Park the standard route leads from the parking area up to the crater rim. The walk from the ticket area to the crater takes about 30-60 minutes on a volcanic gravel trail and isn’t considered technically difficult.
