Summer 2017: The only silver lining to Davide not getting a visa was the summer we spent traveling together in between his leaving NYC and relocating to London. First stop: Milan.

We rented a 50 cc vespa in Portugal and somehow ended up on a 90 kpm highway behind a truck with a very tall palm tree on the back that looked like it would tip over every time it went under a bridge!

Summer 2017: After Faro, we hopped on a bus and made our way to Sevilla. Word to the wise: Seville is one of the prettiest cities we've seen, but do yourself a favor and DON'T go in the summer. 🥵

Summer 2017: We finally made our way to London; while there, we stopped at 221B Baker Street to pay homage to A.C. Doyle and his character, Sherlock Holmes.

December 2017: After a semester apart, we met up in Italy for our holiday vacation. Here we are in Forte dei Marmi.

December 2017: While in Italy, we did some road-tripping. On the way to Portovenere, we stopped in La Spezia, where we took this picture.

December 2017: The Italian writer and Nobel laureate Eugenio Montale dedicated a poem to this church - called San Pietro in Portovenere.

December 2017: Apparently Lord Byron really loved this grotto in Portovenere, which is named after him. Complicated historical figure, solid taste in scenery!

December 2017: Our road trip continued on to Tuscany. We took this picture at a vineyard in the Chianti region (no fava beans!)

December 2017: After going to the vineyard, we stopped for dinner in the city of Sienna, most known for its horse race every summer through the central square.

December 2017: As we made our way back to Parma we stopped to see the Tower of Pisa - wondering how she's been holding up these past couple of years without any tourists to prop her up!

Dec 2017: One of the last things we did that December was visit Torrechiara - a castle near Parma that Davide had passed by many times but had never stopped to see. So, we decided to see it together.

March 2018: Davide flew back to the states for Spring Break and we took a road trip together to Quebec. Here we are overlooking the St Lawrence River.

Summer 2018: We met up in England where we spent some time with friends and family before we headed to the super awesome island of Crete in Greece. Here we are in the capital - Heraklion.

Hours after taking this picture, Maddy was climbing out the window onto the roof of the car so as to help direct Davide to un-wedge the rental from between 2 buildings on a narrow Heraklion street

Dec 2018: This photo documents the first time Maddy tasted Davide's Aunt Sandra's torta fritta. Here we are with the master chef as well as Davide's cousin, Jack, and uncle, Mauro.

Jan 2019: We met up again in Italy for the holiday season. This trip included more road-tripping, including an exploration of Umbria, where we took a ride through the countryside on horseback!

Summer 2019: Having finally moved in together in NYC, we traveled to Amsterdam, where we cleaned the canals, ate some stroopwafels, browsed the Van Gogh museum, and saw some windmills!

October 2019: We met up with Cat and Andy for Mario-cart go-carting. Regardless of any testimony to the contrary, Yoshi dominated the competition.

December 2019: New Years Eve Day we took a drive to see Portofino before meeting up with our friend Vito for New Years.

December 2019: Within 24 hours of indulging in this culinary masterpiece (Sandra's torta fritta) there would be a ring on Maddy's finger. And within 3 months... we would all be in quarantine.

Dec 27, 2019: A little over six years after meeting, Maddy and Davide were engaged!

Although Davide's "story of us" ends simply with a "YES," we know the story is only just beginning...
