How We Met

5.10.22

It was May 10th at 4pm and I walked across the street to a bar called Narrative after a long day of work. Jordan and I were planning to meet here for the first time. We sat down, Jordan ordered a captain and diet coke (of course) and I ordered a moscow mule (which I have never had since, that was very random). Okay back to the story. 4pm turned into 7pm real fast. We sat and laughed and talked about our family, friends, travel experiences, beliefs, life. My mom was in town and I was planning on meeting her for dinner. I looked at my phone and realized I had most definitely missed dinner. We leave the restaurant and Jordan was leaving for the Virgin Islands the next week for a travel assignment. I was really hoping he would want to get together again, but didn't know what to expect, he was about to go to THE VIRGIN ISLANDS! I walk to my car and lo and behold the garage I parked my car in is closed because it is well past business hours. I had to call my friend to come and pick me up. I told my mom to save me some queso because I was starving, but had to tell her everything. Next thing you know, Jordan and I did keep talking and hanging out and God certainly didn't let any distance or travel assignments get in the way of us being together. It wasn't long until I knew Jordan was absolutely everything I have dreamed of and more. I did have to ask him a whole month and a half into our relationship how to spell his last name and I did have to change it in my phone because I did have it spelled wrong. Alas, that will be my new last name now so I will teach you all how to spell it: TEJCHMA TEACH-E-MA Idk who actually reads these so, if you did, thank you for listening to another rambling Maddie rant. I love you!

The Proposal

8.19.2023

THE MOST THOUGHTFUL, WONDERFUL, JOYFUL DAY OF MY LIFE. We all know how much of a planner Jordan is. We all know how much I wanted to marry Jordan and was prying to know the details of a proposal. SO to keep this from me for months was a huge feat, shout out to EVERYONE! It all started on Saturday morning when Maddie Lu Boo and I were on a lovely little walk in the mountains, drinking coffee, collecting wildflowers. Like hello, already the best day ever. She drops me off back at home and I was going to take a nap and get ready to go to the Rockies game with Jordan, Alexa, and Drew. Alexa walks in the door moments after I get home and she has the biggest grin on her face. After months of me prying "why are you being weird, tell me everything! What do you know? Have you talked to Jordan!?" she finally says "nothing, just go shower" and so I comply. I was given a vase and a note written by J letting me know that plans have changed, a Rockies game would no longer be in my future. He had something much, much better planned! The note told me I had a nail appointment in just a few minutes, so Alexa helped me straighten my hair and then I was off. The first note told me to meet at Narrative, our first date spot. Here I found 7 of my best friends waiting to give me a rununculus, my absolute favorite flower, to add to my vase. They handed me the sweetest note, which told me to go to North our favorite restaurant. There Jason, Shannon, Jameson, and Bird were all waiting with more flowers to add to the vase! Best surprise ever! We sat and had a drink (an aperol spritz of course!) and I tried to act normal. The next note directed me to Wash Park, my happy place in Denver and I knew just the spot J wanted me to go to, we had many dates here before. As I am walking through the park, there was a lemonade stand. On Jordan and I's third date there was a lemonade stand and he said "I always have to buy lemonade when I see a stand, I was like this as a kid always trying to make money". I have a rule of life: ALWAYS buy lemonade from a lemonade stand. I was also that kid (I even had a lemonade stand as an adult once). I knew Jordan was a good one after that. Okay so back to the story. I was walking through Wash Park and my mom, dad, Lyndsey, and Kyle all pop out from behind the trees!!!!! WITH MORE FLOWERS!!!! I was in shock! Then we go and buy some lemonade, of course! The fourth and final stop led me to Platt Park-a special place Jordan and I spent time. August of 2022 we sat on a swinging bench and talked for a long time. We were talking about Mary, his mom, and I got the chills and just knew God was with us. I knew I loved Jordan for several reasons in that moment. I knew he would be the one I would marry. Fast forward to a year later and I walk to that exact park. There is the most elaborate, gorgeous picnic (my very aesthetic). Complete with a charcuterie box, champagne, a polaroid camera, macaroons, and the most gorgeous flowers. Jordan got down on one knee and instantly it started raining. We danced in the rain and looked up at the sky and saw a double rainbow: Mary and Jeremy were right there with us. God was with us. The truest of joys! My friend Abbie was capturing all of this in the most gorgeous photos and we had the best time laughing and picnicing in the rain. We then went back to Jason and Shannon's house for the best after party with my bestest friends and family! <3 Best. Day. Ever. Oh, and you should see the itinerary Jordan had for everyone to know where to be when, apparently I was being tracked by the minute to get to every stop. That's Jordan for ya! Such a planner. The most amazing thoughtful proposal of all time, someone put this in a magazine.
