We're Getting Married!

Maddie and Joey met in their senior year at Urbana High School in 2015. Nearly strangers at that point, Joey was encouraged by close friends to ask Maddie to prom in the spring. They had their first “date” at Rosa’s Pizza in the Francis Scott Key mall after picking out Joey’s prom attire. Joey’s Dad and Aunt Brigid were also in attendance. In the months following their graduation from high school, they became practically inseparable. Maddie and Joey began formally “dating” in the fall of their freshman year of college. Maddie was at the University of Maryland, Joey at the University of South Carolina. They spent all four years of college dating long-distance. Connecting via Facetimes, phone calls, care packages, love letters and the occasional visit via a 10+ hour bus ride. They both knew their relationship was something special and it was always worth every mile. They would go on to spend another two years dating long-distance between Philadelphia and Baltimore while Maddie was in graduate school. They were finally able to move into an apartment together in August 2023 after nearly seven years. In August 2024, Joey proposed to Maddie on a dock along the bay in Delaware. He had been hiding the engagement ring in their tiny apartment for almost six months. Maddie was surprised after the proposal with an engagement party surrounded by close family and friends. Maddie and Joey cannot wait to begin the next chapter in their lives together as a married couple. They recently purchased a new home together in Baltimore and are hoping to add a furry companion to the mix in the near future.
