“Mes” and “Stine”

Long before Kris and Jim ever dated, there was Jenee. Kris worked with Jenee at Loyola University. They became coworkers, then became friends. Jenee told Jim about Kris. Jenee told Kris about Jim. While working up the courage to begin courting again, Jim would ask Jenee about Kris. During those askings, Kris was referred to as JimJam’s pretend girlfriend. For much less than that better part of a year, Kris sometimes referred to Jim as her pretend boyfriend. Eventually Jim told Jenee “I think I’m ready.” Jenee consensually received Kris’s number and relayed it to Jim. Being a gentleman and a scholar, Jim silently waited three weeks to contact Kris. As one does, Jim reached out at 9 pm on a Friday (January 8th). Over a week later, they met on a Sunday. They met in Elgin, near the train station. In his first and last act of cuteness in the relationship, Jim brought hot chocolate and marshmallows to the date (thank you, Mom and Aunt Jenny). The hook was set. They never looked back. Jim never hemmed and hawed about moving in, they never had arguments about spending time together, they never ruined each other’s morning routines in the kitchen, and they surely never bought a colorful duvet cover that went with nothing else in their apartment because Jim likes bright colors and Kris did the color design for Dune. Thank you to our friends and families for watching us grow and helping us when we need it. We are excited to share this with you all.
