FAQs

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Dublin Airport (DUB). It is Ireland’s main international airport and is approximately 20 minutes from Castleknock and 30 minutes from Luttrellstown Castle, making it the most convenient option for our wedding events.

Question

Will there be transportation provided to the ceremony and back after the reception?

Answer

Yes. We will provide transportation to and from Castleknock Hotel and Luttrellstown Castle for the wedding ceremony and reception. Additional details and schedules will be shared closer to the wedding date.

Question

Do I need a rental car or is it easy to get around without one?

Answer

A rental car is not necessary. We will provide transportation between Castleknock Hotel and Luttrellstown Castle for the ceremony and reception. Dublin also has taxis, ride-sharing, and public transportation available. A rental car may be helpful if you plan to explore outside the city independently.

Question

Is there a room block or discounted rates for guest?

Answer

Yes! We have a room block at nearby Castleknock hotel. Mention Macy & Cole Wedding for discounted pricing.

Question

When should I book my flights or hotel?

Answer

We recommend booking flights and accommodations as early as possible to secure the best availability and pricing. Early September is a popular travel time in Ireland, so we encourage guests to make arrangements once travel plans are confirmed.

Question

Do I need a passport to travel to Ireland?

Answer

Yes! A passport is required; be sure it does not expire within ~6 months of expected travel dates.

Question

What will the weather be like in Ireland in September?

Answer

Early September in Ireland is generally mild and pleasant, but weather can be changeable. Average daytime temperatures range from 55–65°F. You may experience sunshine, clouds, or light rain—all in the same day! We recommend bringing layers and a light jacket, especially for the evening.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding day?

Answer

The wedding is Black Tie Optional. Guests may choose to wear tuxedos or formal dark suits, and floor-length gowns or formal dresses. Since the ceremony is weather-dependent and may be outdoors, we suggest considering appropriate footwear and an extra layer.

Question

What currency is used in Ireland?

Answer

Ireland uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, including contactless payments. It’s still a good idea to carry a small amount of cash for taxis, pubs, or smaller purchases.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, the ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors at Luttrellstown Castle. The reception will take place indoors.

Question

Do I need to bring an outlet adapter for electronics?

Answer

Yes. Ireland uses Type G plugs (the same as the UK). (this is different than mainland Europe! ) The standard voltage is 230V, so be sure to bring a compatible adapter (and converter if needed for your devices). Double check hair tools are compatible!
