Maid of Honor
Liza definitely didn't win the title of maid of Honor in a coin flip in the kitchen. She earned it by being one of the most wonderful and loving human beings on the planet. She definitely used that big brain and her degree in mathematics to decide that she liked her chances if there was going to be a coin flip though. Liza brings youthful energy, a set of crazy friends, and a heart of gold to the forefront of this wedding party.
Best Man
Don't let Joe's squinty eyes fool you. He sees you eyeing that spot of best man. I know it is a very prestigious position, but Joe is used to such positions. Aside from being a one-time candidate for State Rep, he was also once a little league coach who brought his team to within 15 outs of coming in third place in the league! He is Kevin's very very close friend, we can't say best friend because we are no longer children, but let's just say that Joe and Kevin are very close and have been so for the past decade. You'll recognize Joe as the guy who gives the toast that brings a tear to the eye a slight chuckle to the belly, and goes on for longer than you would have liked. We love Joe and we literally wouldn't be in love and getting married without him. Our first date was on his back porch.
Bridesmaid
Where to start with Julia? Besides being perfect, she is also humble. Not taking the common middle child route of being a weirdo, Julia decided to excel in everything she does. She has a fancy degree in a smart person field. She has been an excellent soccer player like her other family members for over 15 years. She dates the most handsome man I know and lives in one of the most beautiful places on Earth - Boulder, CO. She's always been a good sister to Liza and Sarah and a good daughter for her parents. She is always ready to laugh or to help out a friend, we are both lucky to have her in our family.
Groomsman
Ahhh the good Carpenter! Have you ever met someone who has lived for more than 30 years and never once made a single enemy? No? Well, now you have. Nick is literally one of the nicest humans you will ever meet. He has a quick wit, boyish charm, and is a 1/2 inch shorter than his big brother. He works in NYC in the movie biz, yet he still maintains his down-to-earth nature in nature. An experienced hiker/camper/world traveler, Nick has been to 48 of these United States. If you guess which 2 he hasn't been to, he will give you a shiny quarter and a pat on the head. He luckily has known Kevin for his entire life, this is probably why he's such a good person. We are very lucky to have him in our lives.
Bridesmaid
Laura and Sarah go way back to those teenage angsty years of High School. They have been through it all together and whenever times were tough, there was Laura by Sarah's side. She was always and still is a perfect example of what a friend should be. We would all be lucky to have even 1/2 as good a friend as Laura is to Sarah in our life. She not only is there when times are tough but she's also quick to celebrate a birthday or graduation with a perfectly timed Edible Arrangement! They both love the band Brand New and the bruins. I know it is a common theme with Sarah but Laura is smart, pretty and funny. I guess people seek out qualities they possess themselves in potential friends.
Groomsman
John, or Cecil, as I call him, is literally the funniest guy we know. He knows more about the world than a kid from Southie should. An avid commentator on everyday life and observer of larger societal trends, John is never one to shy away from a good conversation. Kevin and John quickly hit off about ten years ago when they were both forced into hanging out with a group of strange people. They quickly decided that the only way to survive was to team up and make enough jokes to get through each night. John is also a generous and gracious man. The first night that Sarah and I met, John let me win a trivia game so he could impress Sarah with his knowledge of general science and other seemingly useless info. Without john in our life, I would be single and reading dictionaries.
Bridesmaid
Rhea has been Sarah's voice of reason throughout the years, providing her with valid reasons why she should totally not do the absolute insane thing she wants to do, and instead offering a level-headed, more "appropriate for the situation" alternative approach. Rhea's also going to be super pregnant, so that's fun. Sarah and Kevin always get super pumped when they make plans with her and her husband, until they get there and remember that Rhea doesn't like card games, causing their excitement to drain.
Groomsman
Alex and Sarah were friends before I met them, this is the only reason I allow Sarah to hang out with such a handsome Greek guy. Normally my stance is that she is not to affiliate with any Mediterranean types due to their suave nature and striking good looks. Alex and Sarah go to hockey games together because I am not man enough to sit through the brutal sporting contest of American Hockey. Alex and Sarah both have two things in common for sure, they both love Rhea and me. We have been following closely behind Alex in the whole getting engaged and getting married thing, let's just hope that Sarah doesn't trick me into having a baby 30 minutes after the wedding is over much like our good friend Alex was.
Bridesmaid
Katie, Mother of Dragons, Boyd is a lot like Daenerys; she is a fierce warrior, beautiful human person and she will not hesitate to put a hit on you if she thinks you are plotting against her. She disguises her savage nature by day by being a nurse who helps out sick people. We know that she is really just studying human weakness so when the time comes, she can take over the world more easily. Katie is also a very sophisticated person as she is a certified land owner on Martha's Vineyard. Sarah and I are both so happy to have Katie in our lives for many reasons, but the main one is that without her, we would be forced to hang out with Joe alone. No one wants this. We couldn't ask for a better ally in this struggle that we call life.
Groomsman
Pat is Sarah's secret favorite person. She sits in awe at his amazing stories of growing up in Savin Hill, as she just thought that everyone grew up in the suburbs. She is amazed that Pat is a real person and not a movie character. Pat and I have been friends for about ten years now thanks to his quick wit and ability to accept me even though we had different mailmen when growing up. Consistency is a rarity in the world today, but Pat has been the same guy for the whole decade that have known him. He's kind, hes smart, even though he has a very heavy Boston accent, and he is an actual power of example of how to life a good life. Lastly, Pat knows way too much information about the world banks and the secret world governments that control everything from the stock market to the weather.
Bridesmaid
Leighton was the one who introduced the happy couple. She had met Kevin a few weeks prior, and explained to Sarah that he was going to be their new best friend. After meeting one another, Sarah agreed to this new friendship, and then her and Leighton left the gathering to go play with a dog. This is a common theme in their relationship - dogs first and foremost, Reddit second.
Groomsman
Matty Haley, the man, the myth, the legend! Matty befriended me back in 2013 on a camping trip in NH. He will tell you that he remembers this, but I assure you, he doesn't. Matty has too many friends to keep track of the stragglers who he is nice to. If you need proof of this, just ask him about the Dr. that was AirBnBing his apartment that made us both take shots of water with him to celebrate him winning some Dr. award. Matty was too nice to tell the doc that we were both scared that he was going to murder us and harvest our organs for his medical experiments. I think the doc secretly just wanted to figure out how Matty hasn't aged a day in the last 10 years. Matty works at a great trauma hospital in Boston, so if you decide that you are going to get injured at the wedding, just don't.
Bridesmaid
Maggie and Sarah met years ago when they were both forced to hang out in a place they didn't want to be with people they didn't want to be around. They quickly hit it off as the decided that it would be better to team up. Sarah and Maggie have more in common that either of them would like to admit, that what made it so easy to get along so quickly. Maggie is a great traveling partner as we have all vacationed together in several awesome places over the years. Maggie has been married before so she is really good at giving Sarah advice on what its like to be a therapist and to be married. Apparently, its great. Don't let her cute face and small stature fool you, Maggie will cut you. We love her and can't wait to see many more awesome spots this world has to offer us in the years to come.
Groomsman
Matty "Choppy" Bailey moved into my house in Cambridge back in 2009. Well, he started paying rent then. He actually moved in a few weeks before, but no on noticed because he was there so often already. Like most of our friends, Matty is now engaged too. He saw how awesome it was to plan a wedding and thought it would a great idea to have one too. If you can't tell by his pic, he is an avid golfer. It keeps me awake at night just thinking about how embarrassing it will be for him when I beat him at his own game at his bachelor party in September. Obviously I am awake just thinking about how many times I'm going to hit the little ball into the hole that's like really far away. I'm sure he will relish the opportunity though, because Choppy is a true competitor.
Flower Girl
Ms. Willa is very excited to be our flower girl. She was elected the position after writing an exceptionally persuasive 12-page essay, explaining how she plans to go above and beyond her duties. She loves owls, toast, Lethal Weapon 3, and singing. On a side note, Willa wanted me to tell you that even though it is Sarah's special day, you are allowed one photo with her as long as you tip at least $5 and you promise not to talk to her or look her directly in the eyes. She doesn't have time for that nonsense. She will be spending most of her time honoring Sarah and Kevin with her mere presence.
Ring Bearer
William (right) is more excited about being a ring bearer than anyone else in our wedding party, including the bride and the groom. He enjoys Captain Underpants, taking Kev's phone to play monster games, and providing those around him with all the reject candy flavors he deems not worthy of his sophisticated palate.
Usher
Look up "Handsome" in the dictionary and you will find a picture of Bobby standing on the mangled ruins of Brad Pitt, George Clooney and David Beckham. There can be only one, and that one is Bobby. When he is not busy finding perfect seats for all of the guests at the wedding, he spends his time with his lovely girlfriend Julia (Sarah's sister for all of you people that have not been following along closely enough) in CO. He accounts for things, skis and allows people to look upon his handsome face for brief moments at a time. With a smile that can cure Smallpox and a hairline that makes TV news anchors weep, Bobby help all of you that don't comprehend the complexities of finding a place to sit and sitting down. And he will slap your phone out of your hand if you use it during the ceremony
Usher
Mike asked me to tell all of you to please keep it down. He doesn't like a big fuss and he would appreciate it if you would take your loud and obnoxious conversations to a different place, preferably one where he isn't present. He will take his job of ushering very seriously, because everything Mike does, he does right. he is not a man known for cutting corners. Mike is just as handsome as Bobby, but he doesn't need the validation. Mike knows who Mike is. Though he would never say it because humility is one of his many wonderful traits, but you know that thing that you are really good at? The thing that you claim is your special talent, like horseback riding, art critiquing or playing the drums on your steering wheel, well I'm sorry to break it to you, but Mike is better than you at that.
Officiant
What an absolute honor! We both have the privileged of being married by Kate. She is one of my oldest (time being friends, not age, because Kate is approximately 23 years old.) friends. The very first day that Kate and I met, way back in 2007, she immediately hated me! I mean, I can fully understand why, I did ask her to join a group of people to play a fun word game in a bookstore/cafe. Its very reasonable to hate anyone who talks to you, so Kate was justified. Luckily I was able to wear her down and after many years of trying, Kate is pretty close to accepting me as a friend. Getting her to officiate my wedding was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I'm pretty sure she only said yes because we were supposed to meet on a bridge in Paris if we were both not married by 40.
