The Bay Area has several convenient airport options. San Francisco Int'l (SFO) and Oakland Int'l (OAK) Airports are both major international airports with access to most large car rental services, and each is approximately a one-hour drive from Sonoma, CA. Santa Rosa is the closest airport, though flight options may be less frequent and more expensive to this smaller airport. A car for each attending group is highly encouraged as public transport options are non-existent in the North Bay. Plus, Saturday is a free day to explore wine country on your own!
