How do we get out to the island?

Where do we park?

Answer

There are a few public parking options in downtown Portland. There is a garage right on Commercial Street attached to the ferry terminal but this often fills up early! There are several other garages and lots close by, but it may mean some walking. ** Check out the Transportation and Lodging page for more details.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 3:30p. You are welcome to get to the island early and soak it in. There is a restaurant and an inn where you can get changed, freshen up, have a drink, or just sit back and relax.

How long is the boat ride?

The ferry ride from downtown Portland to Great Diamond Island is about 35 minutes long.

What happens if I miss the ferry?

Oh no, we're so sorry! You could try Fogg's Water Taxi (207) 415 - 8493, but they may not be able to accommodate day of. You can also wait for the next ferry and we'd love to see you at the reception!

Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors. The ceremony will not be covered but the reception will be under a large tent. This is August in Maine, maybe the best month on the coast. We are hoping for that perfect summer breeze.

How do we get back to the mainland?

Answer

You can take the Casco Bay Ferry from Diamond Cove back to Portland. No matter how you got out to the island you can take the ferry back. They do not collect tickets for the return trip. The last ferry is at 9:30p (often they offer a 10:30p for the summer months but we will update this when the official summer ferry schedule is published). You can also call Fogg's Water Taxi (207) 415 - 8493. We cannot guarantee they have availability.

Are our children invited?

Answer

While we LOVE your children and would love to have all attend, we have made the difficult decision and are only able to accommodate the children in our wedding party at our reception. We hope you will take advantage and enjoy your adults-only time.
