Barcelona is like any big city, you can feel safe walking at night in most areas, however watch out for pickpockets. We recommend keeping nice jewelry and watches in your hotel while in Barcelona, especially near areas like the Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, and Barrio Gotico.
Barcelona is famous for its stunning Gaudí architectural masterpieces. Entry to these sites often requires advanced planning and ticket purchases ahead of time. In general tipping is not common (hotels, restaurants, etc). If you feel so inclined tips of 1-2 euros are acceptable but not necessary. Once you are seated at a restaurant you can usually order from any waiter throughout the meal, you do not have an assigned waiter. Getting the attention of your waiter can also be challenging ... waiving your hand in the air is usually the best method to get their attention.
Yes! Public transport whether it be the metro, bus, or tramvia is safe and easy.
