Our story begins, as many modern love stories do, on Bumble (the dating app). On his profile, Eric answered a prompt along the lines of "Something you can always find me quoting..." with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" - a show that Kenzie had recently gotten very into. After a few days of messaging back-and-forth, Eric knew he was interested because she kept up a two way conversation and asked him questions about himself. They planned a date and Kenzie realized she couldn't send her usual "if I don't survive this date, this is the man to send the cops after" text to her best friend because he didn't have a single picture on his profile of his face. In all photos, he rocked sunglasses and a hat or he was looking away from the camera. She also told her friend "if this date isn't good, I'm taking a very long break from dating and I'm moving back to D.C. in when my lease is up." They both didn't feel like going on yet another online date but luckily they did! They met at "The Ways" (a small brewery and restaurant) in Glenside, PA on September 10, 2022. They squeezed in weekly dates in spite of Eric jumping into the busy holiday work season and Kenzie beginning rehearsals for her first show since Covid and teaching dance six days a week. Eric learned that he liked cats (and they LOVE him) and Kenzie started to learn how to let someone else take care of her a little bit. By the Springtime, they were in love and Eric moved into the apartment with Kenzie and the cats. They took their first vacation and although it rained the entire week, they had the best time just being together. That feeling still persists day after day, years later. The following Fall, they began house hunting and they officially moved to their home in New Jersey in December 2023. Their relationship survived a major injury and a major fixer-upper and they knew for sure that they were set for life. On March 23, 2025, Eric proposed in Atlantic City in a beautiful ocean-view suite while Kenzie's childhood favorite movie was on TV in the background (Princess Diaries II: The Royal Wedding), during the wedding scene. They are both so thrilled to finally be officially, legally joined together forever and to start their lives as Mr. and Mrs. Martin.
