Our History

April 1, 2012

We had been introduced to each other summer of 2010 at the Harlan County Lake. After meeting, we hadn’t spoken to each other in a while and it was in early 2012 when we reconnected. Our first official date was going to see the first 3-D movie ever shown at the Franklin, NE movie theater... Titanic. After a few months of dating and meeting both of our families, we were officially boyfriend & girlfriend on April 1, 2012, which in-turn was thought to be an April Fools’ Day joke. We spent that summer together (pretty much every day) until David left for Lincoln, NE to attend his first year of college at Southeast Community. Looking back now, the year passed quickly, and we together made the transition to Omaha, NE to attend The University of Nebraska- Omaha after Mackenzie graduated from High School. Omaha quickly became our new home. Living in Omaha, we found ourselves to be in good proximity to our family, we have met our life-long best friends, took time to travel together and received the best college education that has landed us wonderful jobs. Adding up the years, we had been together for over six. David felt it was time to begin our next chapter. On July, 11, 2018, he planned a very special proposal and that's when he got down on one knee and Mackenzie said YES to forever.

The Proposal

July 11, 2018

July 10th fell on a Tuesday, so I wasn’t expecting to do a whole lot for my birthday. David still made it special and he had me pick out a restaurant to go to for dinner. One week before my birthday, he told me to take a few hours off work on Wednesday, July 11th. I didn’t understand why he would make me take some time off the day after my birthday, but I went along with it because he has always been somewhat spontaneous. When I got home from work early, I had freshened up as David was looking pretty spiffy himself. It was when we got into his Jeep, he told me we were going out to our favorite local Vineyard, Soaring Wings, to celebrate my birthday. He took me on Wednesday as they are not open on Tuesday and he wanted to avoid the live music crowds during the weekend. When we arrived at the Vineyard we were ordering wine, when my college friend and photographer, Kasie walked in with her camera. David had said that part of my birthday present was to get nice photos taken of us. Kasie had us first do nice couple photos, and then she led us down to the endless rows of vines. After a few photos of us walking down one of the rows of grape vines, David had taken both of my hands and in a heartfelt speech he proposed that we begin the next chapter of our lives together. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him… and I said YES!!!
