Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. We recommend starting your trip here, since it will be the easiest way to get to the Castello di Ristonchi! One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.”
The nearest town is the small village of Pelago, situated at the foot of the castle. You will find monuments, museums and churches dating back to the 14th century. The nearest large town is Pontassieve with more stores, restaurants and the train station.
There is a winery and vineyard for wine tastings and a tour less than 10 minutes drive from the Castello. "Travignoli's success and longevity marks it as one of the 150 most antique enterprises in Italy, with our vineyards having a long history in wine cultivation dating back to the Etruscans in 500 BC. "
Ristonchi has a beautiful outdoor pool filled with natural spring water from the mountains. It is not heated, but will still be lovely!
Ristonchi Castle is on top of a mountain surrounded by olive groves and an ancient forest with over 20km of marked paths for walking and cycling. Guests can ask reception for recommended trails.
