FAQs

This page will (hopefully) have answers to questions that were not answered on any of the other pages of this website! For specific travel and hotel information, please see the Travel page. For things to do in the area if you are coming to New Hampshire early, please see the Things to Do page. We would kindly ask that any other questions regarding the wedding be directed to the Maid of Honor (mwiggin@wellesley.edu). Thank you!
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

August 19

Question

I am on the fence about renting a car. Is it worth it to do that as my weekend transportation?

Answer

It depends on how long you are staying for! If you are here from Friday-Sunday and only plan on taking part in the wedding festivities, we would say that you should not need to rent a car. We will have shuttle and carpool transportation available for all wedding festivities, and recommend that you stay in Downtown Portsmouth for walking access to all other amenities. If you are planning to make this a longer trip (say, getting in Wednesday and leaving on Monday or Tuesday), we would suggest that you do rent a car. There is not a lot of public transportation in this area, and much of what one would want to sight see beyond downtown is the most accessible in a car.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels for the celebration?

Answer

Yes! We will have scheduled shuttles to bring all guests to the venue from Downtown Portsmouth and vice versa. For those staying in beach motels or Airbnb's, please refer to the parking question below.

Question

What time will the shuttle be leaving from Portsmouth to get to the venue?

Answer

It will be departing Downtown Portsmouth at 2 pm. Please see the Travel page for the exact location of pickup.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

We encourage everyone to take the shuttles to the venue as there will be extremely limited parking room. There are larger parking lots in Downtown Portsmouth where you can drop your car to pick up the shuttle if you are not staying in downtown. That being said, there will be a small amount of exceptions for those that will be departing the celebration outside of the shuttle schedule or who have an emergent need to have a car on premises. We will be making decisions about parking spaces based on priority - this means we truly will only be making exceptions for emergent needs. Please reach out directly to the Maid of Honor by phone to reserve a car spot. Once the spots are full, we would ask that you please park in Downtown Portsmouth and take the shuttle.

Question

I am planning to drink adult beverages at the wedding, but noticed that the venue is fairly far from the recommended hotels. How will I get back?

Answer

We will be scheduling shuttles to drop all guests in Downtown Portsmouth throughout the night. If you are planning to drink and NOT staying in Downtown, we please ask that you make your own accommodations to get home safely from Downtown. Uber and Lyft are relatively prevalent in the area, but will become less and less available as the night goes on. There are also limited taxis should the need arise.

Question

What time will the shuttle be leaving the Venue?

Answer

Starting at 9 pm, the shuttle will be making rounds every hour and a half back to Downtown. The last shuttle will depart at midnight.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

If you take a look at the travel page, we have provided a large list of hotels in Downtown Portsmouth. These locations will give you walking access to restaurants, parks, and small general stores. They are also within walking distance of the shuttle pickup location. Other than that, I suggest looking at any Airbnbs or beach motels in the area, as there is a high likelihood to find other options! This is a vacation destination in the summertime, so it is likely you could find some in the early fall due to peak season just ending.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

There will be an option to mention dietary restrictions in the RSVP. Please be mindful that we will be having a family style meal, so our options to offer will be limited. We will do our best to make accommodations so that all guests are comfortable!

Question

What food will be served at the reception?

Answer

We will have hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour and a family style meal for dinner. The family style meal will include a chicken and salmon dish. There will also be vegetables and a starch as sides.
