Macey & Zach met through their mutual friend, Zach Heller, who had invited the both of them to his family's lake house at Pine Lake in Wisconsin over Labor Day weekend. Macey lived in Iowa- which was 7 hours away from the lake house- and she was nervous about driving the entire trip solo in her old SUV. Two days before the trip, Zach Heller called Macey while he was with Zach Nehr. Macey had not officially hung out with this Zach Nehr guy, but had briefly met him earlier in 2022. The three of them ended up video calling for the next 2 hours and Macey was finally convinced to come to the lake house as long as Zach Nehr drove with her from Milwaukee. When Macey & Zach met up in Milwaukee, they walked around the lakefront and realized they had a lot in common. They immediately felt comfortable in each other's presence and smiled nonstop. Once they arrived to the lake house that night, they were wide awake and ready to keep talking. That first night, they sat on the dock talking and counting shooting stars until 2:30am. The second night, 4:00am. The third night, 5:30am... If anyone knows Zach, they know he has a bedtime of 9:30pm. By the final night, Zach had decided to ask Macey on a date. Macey wasn't interested in dating anyone, but she realized that Zach was special (especially since he spent the entire weekend cooking plant-based food with her) so once they got back to Milwaukee, they went on their first official date at Cafe Hollander! They had a tough time dating long distance for the next few months, but were able to visit each other several times and spent hours on late night phone calls. Macey had already decided she was moving to Milwaukee prior to that Labor Day weekend, so Macey and Zach were eventually reunited and were able to officially be together and continue their love story! On a beautiful sunny summer day, Zach and Macey decided to go on a day-date to Macey’s favorite vegan restaurant, Urban Beets. After lunch, they went to their next date stop at Lynden Sculpture Garden in Milwaukee. As they walked around a peaceful pond, Zach turned to Macey and gave her a big hug. He started blushing and talked about how happy he was with Macey and how special she was. He then pulled out a ring and asked Macey if she would want to do this forever thing with him, to which she joyfully said yes! While they were hugging each other, they simultaneously realized that in the pond, hundreds of frogs had been witnesses to their proposal! Macey couldn’t stop laughing and comparing it to Princess & the Frog (one of her favorite movies)! Zach had tried so hard to come up with a place where he could privately propose in nature… but alas, those frogs will forever be part of this special moment.
