Taxis and ride-sharing are generally not available in the Les Cheneaux area and should not be relied on. Please plan ahead for transportation, especially after dinner or the after party. There may be a limited number of private drivers available locally. If you think you may need help arranging a scheduled ride home, please reach out to Wesley and we’ll do our best to ask around.
Parking at the property is limited, so please carpool with whomever you can. Please let us know how many people will be in your car so we can plan accordingly.
Les Cheneaux Culinary School is in Hessel, about a 20-minute drive from the ceremony location. Guests should plan to drive or carpool from the property to dinner.
Think summer dresses, linen, button-downs, lightweight suits or separates, and comfortable shoes for grass, sand, and uneven ground. No outfit change is needed between the ceremony, dinner, and after party, although you may want a layer for the evening.
The ceremony and Sunday beach day will be outdoors by Lake Huron. August weather is usually beautiful, but it can be breezy by the water, and evenings may be chilly or even cold. The property includes grass, sand, rocks, and uneven ground, so comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged. A light jacket, sweater, or wrap is recommended for the evening. We’ll also have bug spray available.
We’re planning for an outdoor ceremony by the water, and there will not be a tent at the property. If the weather is difficult, we’ll stay flexible and adjust as needed. Light rain may still mean a casual outdoor ceremony, so please dress comfortably for the conditions. If heavier rain is likely, we may keep things at the property very brief and make dinner at Les Cheneaux Culinary School the main gathering point. Please do not worry if, in that case, it makes more sense for you to join us at dinner. We’ll keep everyone posted as the weekend gets closer.
Carne Asada: Flank steak with crispy potato, cotija, salsa matcha, cilantro, pickled onion, and lime mayo Green Curry Whitefish: Whitefish with peanut, herbs, vegetables, rice, and roti Black Shallot Tortellini: Tortellini with mushroom velouté, pine nut, onion crisp, pesto, and Parmigiano Reggiano Vegan options are also available. Please include your entrée selection and any dietary restrictions in your RSVP.
Please bring anything you’d like for the day, including food, drinks, sunscreen, a towel, and a beach chair if you can. BYOB is welcome. We recommend having breakfast at Angio’s beforehand. It can be a rocky beach, so we recommend sandals or other appropriate shoes if you want to explore the flat rocks or walk the island.
No. Your presence and support are more than enough. We are just grateful to celebrate with you.
Wesley’s great-great-grandfather worked in the Upper Peninsula in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, monitoring logging activity and land use in the area. During that time, he came across Beavertail Point and built a cabin, and the family has been traveling there ever since. It is remote, quiet, beautiful, and a little hard to explain until you are there. It felt like the perfect place for us to get married. Also, it is hard to beat Northern Michigan in late summer.
The Les Cheneaux area is small, quiet, and seasonal, so business hours can be limited and may vary by day. Some places may close earlier than expected or be closed on Sundays. We recommend checking hours before you go, making reservations where possible, and planning ahead if there is somewhere you really want to visit.
Yes. Cedarville has a local grocery store, but hours may be limited and it will be closed on Sunday. If you need groceries, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, toiletries, bug spray, or anything specific for the weekend, we recommend picking things up before Sunday.
Cedarville, Hessel, and the Les Cheneaux area are beautiful, quiet, and a little off the beaten path. This is not a place with lots of taxis, late-night food, or big-town conveniences. The best parts are simple: time by the water, slow mornings, scenic drives, and enjoying Northern Michigan in late summer.
Yes. August days in Northern Michigan are usually beautiful, but evenings by Lake Huron can be chilly or even cold, especially if it is breezy. We recommend bringing a sweater, jacket, or wrap for the ceremony, dinner, after party, and any time spent outside by the water.
We completely understand. Cedarville is not the easiest place to get to, lodging is limited, and the Michigan celebration is intentionally casual and limited in size. We’re grateful for your love and support either way. We do not have anything formally planned in Atlanta yet, but we hope to have a chance to celebrate with more family and friends when we are able to. The timing and format are still TBD, but we’re always up for dinner and a drink.
