We met in 2017 on, uh, multiple dating apps. On OkCupid, Michael discovered Ally had a fondness for Tom Waits and Paul Rudd, so he opened with a line about Rudd's character in Knocked Up wearing a "Rain Dogs" shirt. Ally was straight up into this, but like many conversations on dating apps, their short little banter led nowhere! Five months later, on Tinder, Michael prompted Ally with a new line of questioning — this time about another one of her true loves, Tony Soprano. Luckily he followed this up by asking to grab drinks the following week. And we haven't stopped bantering since.
The proposal itself was not a huge surprise. We had gone on a secret road trip to NYC during the summer to look at engagement rings, and, reader, we found one. A couple of months later, on a trip to Vermont, Michael proposed to Ally on the porch of the adorable cabin they were staying at by playing David Bowie's "Be My Wife," which was very sweet until Ally realized he was playing the Borat remix. (Scroll down for said cabin and porch).
