Mac and Brooke went on their first date in December 2019 after matching on Bumble. Despite soon spending the 3 week winter break apart for the holidays, they were able to sneak in a date the morning that Brooke left town. Mac picked Brooke up at her Georgia Tech apartment, packed all her luggage in the trunk, and headed off to Eventide Brewery before dropping her off at the airport. Needless to say, the date went really well, and Mac and Brooke texted every single day over the holiday break. They met up again in January 2020 for the sweetest date night at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for the Christmas Lights and they have been inseparable ever since. Mac proposed to Brooke on October 28th, 2021 at Qualusi Vineyards in Georgia. They had found the vineyard together early in their relationship and shared so many amazing memories drinking wine, decorating charcuterie boards, and listening to live music with family and friends. Mac planned the most amazing surprise that truly left Brooke speechless. He set the scene with a custom blanket that said ‘Forever and Always, Marry Me Brooke!’, coordinated the logistics of bringing Brooke’s family and friends to the vineyard to be a part of the moment, and hired a photographer and musician to celebrate the day. It was the easiest ‘Yes!’ that Brooke ever said! As a couple, Mac and Brooke have celebrated many life events together: Brooke graduating with her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees, Mac graduating with his PhD degree, starting first jobs, and buying a house in Atlanta. Some of their favorite hobbies include exploring the city, cooking, and traveling. As extraverts, they have loved their dining adventures in trying new restaurants, finding fun places for live music and cocktails, attempting escape rooms, going ax throwing, and floating down the Chattahoochee river. They also love cooking at home, whether that be on Mac’s Traeger or trying new recipes using fun, new ingredients. Mac and Brooke have also enjoyed traveling around the country visiting family and friends. This includes spending the day on a boat in Wisconsin, learning about new cocktails in New Orleans, going on hikes in Las Vegas, relaxing on the beach in Florida, dancing in Texas, and visiting vineyards in California. They are both overwhelmed with joy to be able to spend the rest of their lives together and are beyond blessed to have such amazing family and friends.
