Josh and Macaela's paths crossed through a mutual friend (and now bridesmaid!), Dalashay, when she said the simple term, "My friend Josh thinks you are so cute!" Their interests were sparked, and they decided to meet in Pittsburgh for their first date. Since neither of them lived in Pittsburgh, they met at Dalashay's house on Marshall Avenue (this will be significant later!). Josh, being full of surprises, had the whole night planned with drinks on a rooftop bar, a walk through the city, and a ride up the Duquense Incline. The night ended at the top of Mt. Washington, and their fate was sealed...with a kiss of course!
Amidst the pandemic and their crazy life schedules, Josh and Macaela knew they needed to schedule a special date night with one another. They agreed to go to Phipps Conservatory and dinner at a "new restaurant" which was supposed to be a surprise. However, Josh obviously had other plans! He coordinated with Emily Havranek - sweet friend and wedding photographer - to surprise Macaela with an impromptu engagement shoot! Josh wanted to pick a place that was special, so he chose Marshall Avenue - the place he first met Macaela. Josh, pretending that his car broke down, called Macaela to ask her to pick him up at Marshall Avenue and if they could take her car instead. What a bummer! Reluctantly, Macaela came to the rescue, preparing to drive through the city for the day. However, Josh pulled her out of her car, stood her on the sidewalk where they had first laid eyes on each other, and got down on one knee. Of course, Macaela said YES! It is evident to both Josh and Macaela that God has had his hand in their relationship from the beginning. He has used so many situations and people in their lives to strengthen their relationships with Him, as well as their relationship with each other. God's blessings have continued to be evident in both of their stories. He has been faithful and will continue to be at the center of their relationship and marriage.
