The official dress code is 'semi-formal,' but what does that mean? We want a playful, summery vibe for our wedding while still keeping the dress code formal enough that Sarah won't look out of place in a poofy white dress! For a more masculine look, that means suits or button downs paired with nice pants in pretty much any color but black. For a feminine style, dresses that hit anywhere between the thigh and mid-calf are appropriate, as are dressier jumpsuits. Fun summery colors and patterns are all welcome, whether that's neon stripes or pastel flowers! If you need some inspo, check out this Pinterest board that we've made for you: https://pin.it/1bvwgoz That being said, sustainability is super important to us - so if you already own something that generally fits that vibe, wear it! If you'd like to try and find something secondhand, that would also make us very happy! If you're new to secondhand dress shopping, Sarah swears by ThredUp, but Rent the Runway, Poshmark, or theRealReal would all be great options.
Kardinal Hall is a pretty casual venue, so anything from jeans and a nice top to a sundress is appropriate.
Yes! We've reserved a hotel block at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlottesville North, which you can reserve at the link below. The last day to book in order to receive our group rate will be May 2nd. https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1673278144828&key=GRP&app=resvlink
Yes! We'd love to have your kiddos celebrate with us. However, we'd also love to give you the opportunity to have a weekend away from them 😆 - so no obligation to bring them.
Good question! We've chosen to both change our last names to (you guessed it) Lyton! We made this choice to symbolize us joining our two families into one new family. So, Lyt- from Lytle and -ton from Overton combine to create our new last name, Lyton, which will be pronounced like 'lighten.' We are equal partners in our relationship and want our last name to reflect that while carrying family history from both sides of our new family!
Our ceremony will be outdoors unless it is heavily raining. So, bring an umbrella if the forecast looks dubious☔️! The cocktail hour and reception will be inside.
We would love to have you celebrate with us for as long as you're comfortable! Our reception will end at 10:30 pm, but for those who may want to call it a night sooner, we'll have early shuttle options around 8:30 pm, 9:00 pm, and 9:30 pm.
There is no parking on-site at the venue, so we will be providing shuttles for all of our guests! Please let us know where you plan to stay when you RSVP, so we can plan our shuttle transportation accordingly.
