Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lynsey Kolo and Peter Kozey
Deer Valley Ranch is a little over 2.5 hours from Denver, where most of our guests will be flying into and starting their journeys. Below are a few of our favorite places to check out along the way. Our hope is that our family and friends will carve out their own adventures and make lasting memories in this lovely state we call home! Please reach out to us if you would like additional recommendations or information.
Voodoo Doughnut

Voodoo Doughnut

98 South Broadway, Denver, CO 80209

Lynsey chose this spot for her and Peter's first date after he recommended a "dessert date" courtesy of Love on the Spectrum. Voodoo's Grape Ape donut is Lynsey's absolute favorite!

Golden, Colorado

Golden, Colorado

Golden, CO

Check out this cute old west-esque city right outside of Denver! Our second date included a short hike on Olvine Trail to the top of South Table Mountain and brunch in downtown Golden.

Mac Nation Cafe

Mac Nation Cafe

5510 Parmalee Gulch Road, Indian Hills, CO 80454

The VERY best spot around for the ultimate comfort food. Mac Nation offers an insane amount of mac and cheese variations - even mac flights! This spot is on the scenic route to our venue and is nearby some mellow hiking parks including, Lair O' the Bear, Corwina Park and Dedisee Park.

St. Mary's Glacier

St. Mary's Glacier

7599 Fall River Rd, Idaho Springs, CO

St. Mary's Glacier is a beginner friendly hike to one of the most serene landscapes! Don't forget to climb up towards the glacier to catch the best view of the lake and fall colors below. We have enjoyed several hikes here with friends and family. Early on in our relationship, we even climbed up the cliffs and jumped into the freezing glacier melt! Trail Details: Length: 1.5 miles round-trip. Difficulty: Moderately difficult. Terrain: Rocky. Altitude: Reaches an altitude of 11,000 feet. Parking: There are two paid parking lots, one south and one north of the trailhead, costing $20 per day per vehicle.

Aspen Peak Cellars

Aspen Peak Cellars

60750 US Highway 285, Bailey, CO 80421

An adorable spot for delicious wine and a bite to eat on the creek!

Mr. Burro Cafe

Mr. Burro Cafe

702 Main Street, Fairplay, CO 80440

Fairplay, also known as South Park, is a charming small town near some of Colorado's most well known 14ers (14,000 ft tall mountains). Mr. Burro Cafe, on the main drag is one of our favorite places to stop on the way to or from hikes and camping. It's family owned and serves delicious lox sandwiches and giant cinnamon rolls.

Frisco

Frisco

Frisco, CO

Check out this charming mountain town with gorgeous mountain views right on main street! One of our favorite spots to eat is Butterhorn Bakery Cafe - Peter especially loves the biscuits and gravy. Lake Dillon/Frisco Reservoir is right around the corner, offering walking trails, water views and boat rentals!

Breckenridge

Breckenridge

South Main Street, Breckenridge, CO 80424

Breckenridge is the quintessential Colorado mountain town! You'll find stellar views from the main drag, boutique shops, good eats and all the best mountain feels here!

Leadville, Colorado

Leadville, Colorado

Leadville, CO 80461

Another sweet Colorado mountain town - this one a little more wild west and in the middle of nowhere! We enjoyed our first camping trip right outside of Leadville at Turquoise Lake.

Twin Lakes, Colorado

Twin Lakes, Colorado

Twin Lakes, CO 81251

Not far from Leadville lies Twin Lakes. It may be a tiny town, but it is definitely something to behold! The Twin Lakes reservoir is outlined by massive mountains, including the tallest in the state, Mt. Elbert. If you continue driving through Twin Lakes and up Independence Pass a ways, you'll be in store for endless views and hiking. This road connects all the way to Aspen, for those looking to extend their road trip.

Buena Vista, Colorado

Buena Vista, Colorado

Buena Vista, CO 81211

Downtown Buena Vista is just 20 minutes from our wedding venue. The town boasts Old West style storefronts and eateries, beautiful mountain views and a lovely riverwalk. We have enjoyed The Lariat for sports and live music and Eddyline Restaurant at South Main for brunch and Bloody Mary's.

Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort
