VILLA ABRAZOS will be our central gathering spot Thurs to Sun. We'll host most events here -- Friday dinner, Saturday ceremony and reception, meeting place for tours, etc. The Villa, which has beach access and a beautiful pool, as well as a bar and restaurant on site, will provide a spot to chill, regardless of where you're staying. Abrazos was privately built as a luxurious space for the owners to host visitors. Caribbean Villas Hotel is located on the beach right next to Villa Abrazos. Now that we've stayed there, there's good and bad here. The beach is gorgeous. Much of the island has sea walls, but Caribbean Villas has a nice stroll-in beach with a gradual incline, mild temps and calm water. Sunrise is amazing. The pools are fine. But if you want a pool, walk next door to Abrazos. It's that close. The Beach Bar & Grill serves Breakfast, Lunch and Tropical Drinks all day long. It's fun, reasonably priced and a great place to chill. Service is on 'island time' but that's everywhere. It's an island. The suites & villas are a decent option - most include a full kitchen and king-sized beds, with prices ranging from $145-$250+ tax per night. The standard rooms are just okay. They're a place to sleep. But sea and saltwater have taken a toll and they're a bit worn. There's a roadside motel feel to some of those rooms. It's clean and safe. But if you're particular about that sort of thing, Sea Horizon across the street has more modern furnishings. Their cancellations are strict and must be made 45+ days before arrival. Nearby Oceanfront Rooms & Suites

Located less than 1/4 mile up the beach from Villa Abrazos, Corona del Mar is situated a little closer to downtown San Pedro and across the street from popular local restaurants and bars like Margie & Kenny's Hangout and Coconut Paradise. And yes! You can walk along the beach to get from Abrazos to Caribbean Villas to Corona del Mar. All the beaches are public. In fact, you can walk along the beach from the San Pedro Water Taxi (Ferry) Terminal to Corona del Mar. The sand is hard packed so the walk is pretty easy if you don't have a lot of luggage. The hotel exterior is a little worn and dated but the rooms are clean and fairly spacious - most with fridge and microwave starting at $110/night. Suites are nicer and larger. Breakfast, lunch and cocktails are offered from 7am to midnight daily at The Lost Gringo pool bar and restaurant. Lost Gringo was fun -- the bartender Alex prides himself on his ability to make any drink! If you're near the pool, you'll probably hear the music from Lost Gringo into the evening. SEA HORIZON Just a two-minute walk across the street from Villa Abrazos, Sea Horizon offers affordable rooms and suites (starting around $120/night.) There are two nice pools on site, but no beach. It's unimpressive from the outside as there is nearby construction. But quite nice once you're inside. The rooms are clean and modern. If you don't mind walking across the street to Abrazos for the beach, Sea Horizon is an excellent option It's a short walk to neighboring restaurants, bars, and there's a grocery store just outside the door. Islands Jungle Sports Bar is next door. If you have an outside room, you may hear the music into the evening. However, Islands Jungle will also provide food delivered to your room. Mahogany Bay Resort/Beach Club

Nicer More Flexible Resort, 1 mile/5-min golf cart ride away

Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club is a Curio Collection by Hilton property located a little over a mile from Villa Abrazos. You'll want to rent a golf cart if you stay here. They have 1-, 2-, and 3-BR Suites and Cottages available. Mahogany Bay is located on the Lagoon Side of the island, in a larger community (that has both Hilton and Marriott properties.) Many of the rentals offer access to a private Beach Club - reachable exclusively by boat. The lagoon side doesn't have nice beaches so the Mahogany Bay rentals offer either Pool Club access or Beach Club access. However, you'll be welcome to enjoy the beach area at Villa Abrazos regardless. Rooms start at $290/night, most include a separate bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining area as well as deck or patio.
