We are quite the story, so I hope you have the time to read it! Carter and I technically met on a dating app in the fall of 2018 when I was starting my junior year at TCU, and Carter was in Fort Worth reporting for drill. I knew of Carter from our mutual friend, my Maid of Honor Bella Rusli, because she and Carter were in choir together at McKinney Boyd High School. Bella and I grew up dancing together from the age of 10 to 18 at the Academy of Dance Arts in Allen, Texas. The summer before our senior year, Bella and I fought about a boy..... which is a two-hour-long story in itself. Anyway after that happened, I never got to meet any of Bella's guy friends during our senior year which so happened to include Carter. So whenever I saw Carter on Tinder, I wanted to know if we would match out of curiosity...? According to Carter, he had no clue who I was and thought I was just another cute girl to match with. Little did he know... I would end up being his wife. Fast forward to a couple of weeks, after we matched, we met up in between my busy college schedule on a Thursday afternoon at the TCU campus bookstore. We ended up hitting it off and had a lot in common such as our love for popcorn and future ideals in life. Two months later and a couple more "dates" in between, Carter asked me to be his girlfriend, and my 20-year-old self said sure, why not! Five months after we started dating we got to tackle the challenge of extra long-distance due to his 13-month deployment in Djibouti where Carter was working on the front line during the start of the 2020 pandemic. Carter finally got to return home and he decided to finish his bachelor's degree at the University of Alabama #RollTide, which in turn extended our long-distance another two years. So if you are doing the math, at this point we will have done long-distance dating for 3 years. Luckily our parents both lived 15 minutes from each other so we always got to spend time together during holidays and summer breaks. Once he finished undergrad, Carter moved back to Dallas, where I was living post-grad, and we decided to put our relationship to the test by moving in together. Over time we discovered that we truly brought out the best version of each other and were excited to take those future ideals we talked about in 2018 and make them become our reality. Carter surprised me..iykyk back in December 2023 during a double date to see the Christmas lights in Highland Park by proposing to me at a park by our apartment in Dallas. We have enjoyed planning our wedding throughout this past year and I hope you are as excited as we are to celebrate with everyone. We cannot wait to see you out on the dance floor busting a move!
