Lyndsay says... "We met on a dating app during our dear friend, COVID. After talking on the phone for a few days, Andrew asked me out on our first date. It was a Sunday afternoon...he came and picked me up after church to take me to lunch. Little did we know, our first date would end up being seven HOURS long. After we ate lunch, we walked around Old Town and talked, getting to know each other a little more. Since we were in the middle of long summer days, we decided to drive around and continue our time together (neither one of us wanted the date to end). While we were driving, we talked about the similarities we had in our upbringings, sang songs at the top of our lungs, tried to remember VBS songs from way back when, and talked about what we both were looking for moving forward. We just had so much fun together! At the (very reluctant) end of the date, he took me back home and I knew this was going to turn into something very special." Andrew says... "I agree with everything Lyndsay said...we knew it would turn into something special even after just one date. Another really cool part of the story is that even though Lyndsay had been on a dating app before, she had never "liked" anyone named Andrew or Jacob, since those are her brother's names. She had always thought that would be weird-LOL. Honestly...kind of bored and not anticipating meeting anyone worthwhile, and never having been on any kind of dating app before...I "happened" to fill out a profile on the same app as Lyndsay. ONE WEEK later, we met because Lyndsay decided to go against her unspoken rule and look a little more into some guy named Andrew. We feel like God was looking out for both of us and took care of all the details behind the scenes. Special is definitely a great word to describe it.
My (Lyndsay's) family had come to visit from Texas for a long-awaited getaway to the mountains. This was going to be the first time that they had met Andrew in person, and we were all very excited to spend the week in Grand Lake. Our last day at the cabin happened to also be Andrew's birthday. I thought I was being the sneaky girlfriend in planning a day full of surprises, wanting to make him feel special for his birthday. Little did I know, that I was the one who was going to end up with the biggest surprise! We started our morning early with donuts...it's my family's tradition to do on every birthday. Shortly after, we packed up the truck and headed into town for one last gift shop run-through before heading home to Fort Collins. The plan once we got back into town was for us all to get ready to take Andrew out for birthday dinner. Turns out, Andrew was in on all the details, but was acting surprised to throw me off. After dinner, we were told we needed to stall before going over to Uncle Jason's house for "a birthday dessert" my cousins were making for Andrew. He played that one up BIG! Mom suggested that since we all looked nice, we should go take some family pictures. Of course I was oblivious and still thinking Andrew had no idea what was going on. We went to Arapaho Bend and decided to take some pictures on the bridge. We did family pictures first, the boys got Andrew's parents on FaceTIme at some point, then...just Andrew and I posed...with my back turned into him. As we tried to figure out how to pose next, I heard him say, "What about this one?". I turned around to see what he was talking about and he was down on one knee! He said, "You know I love you, will you marry me?" I was in tears instantly, but of course said yes! He knew every detail of the day, as did so many other important people in my life, and they all went above and beyond to make sure this day was perfect for the both of us! We can't wait to spend the rest of our days together!
