What they thought would be a short coffee date turned into an 8 hour adventure of shopping on Broughton Street, getting dinner at The Flying Monk, and then ending up on Tybee Island to go stargazing. Once the weekend was over, Lydia couldn't wait until the next weekend to see Joe again. This led to having a second date at Carlitos for the infamous $1 Taco Tuesday. This was the beginning of a relationship that connected over their love of coffee, tacos, and endless adventures.
Although their story begins in Savannah, it continues all over the country. Lydia and Joe have stayed by each others side including during Lydia's internship in Kansas City and then ending up at their current location in Arlington, VA. During this time they have been to 17 states, hiked 8 mountains, evacuated 4 hurricanes (thanks Savannah), and found 8 Mexican restaurants they they love. They even added a third member to their little family recently, a corgi pup named Poppy.
After being stuck in quarantine for a few weeks, Lydia and Joe decided to venture out in Leesburg to tour Stone Tower Winery. Hoping that it wouldn't be crowded on the hottest day of the summer, they were disappointed to see that the winery was packed. They did a quick tasting, grabbed some lunch, and decided to take a drive along the wooded back roads. They drove for a few minutes before discovering signs for another winery. Following the signs deeper into the woods, they stumbled across Willowcroft Winery. Much to their delight, they were they only people at the secluded winery. After getting a tasting flight, they sat down at a picnic table overlooking the mountains in the distance. While Lydia was distracted by the view, Joe took out the ring he had hidden in his pocket and proposed. Of course Lydia said yes! Nearly two hours went by after that consisting of calling family and friends, taking photos, and toasting to continuing on with their adventure for a lifetime
