Our wedding dress code is cocktail attire, our dance floor dress code is costume optional! What does this mean? Jackets encouraged, ties optional for men. Ladies, we trust you to wear a dress, jumpsuit, or fun pantsuit that makes you feel great! Our venue is cozy and intimate; we want our guests to be comfortable throughout the day. That being said, it's a Halloween wedding! When dancing kicks off, we encourage guests to do a costume change if that would be fun for you. We'll have ~spooky~ props available for those who don't want to bring a costume. And yes, there will be awards for best costume! A note on weather: the full event will be inside, with an option to mingle and take photos outside during cocktail hour. It's still the Bay Area where weather is extremely variable. We recommend you bring a jacket to enjoy the outdoors.
In short, this is not not a costume party. By that we mean this is our wedding! The main purpose of the day is to actually get us married which is a beautiful, important moment, and we don't want that part of this day to feel like a joke. However, we love a theme party. What better way to be true to ourselves than to break out Willard's infamous costume box at our wedding? When the party portion of the evening heats off, we say trick or treat! Bring a full costume change, add a silly hat, or toss on a cape while we dance the night away -- there will be prizes for the most original and over-the-top outfits. We will supply a small costume closet as well. One thing that brings John and Lydia together is their commitment to a bit. So long story short, we encourage but do not require guests to wear a Halloween costume for the party.
Getting to the Headlands is somewhat of an adventure. While it's only a few miles outside the city, you drive through the Golden Gate Recreation Center to get there. You will lose cell service for the last 5-10 minutes of the drive. You can drive to the venue and there is plenty of parking. However, if you are not familiar with the area and/or will be drinking, we recommend ridesharing via Uber/Lyft to the venue. It will be 15-30min drive from most SF locations. While there's no cell service in the Headlands (after the tunnel) there is reliable wifi at the Headlands center that will be available so guests can call a car from the venue. Rideshare pickup may take a while (15-30mins) at the end of the night, so we encourage you schedule an Uber/Lyft earlier that day for pickup between 10:00-10:15pm. Please reach out if you're concerned about transportation.
Dinner will be served family style with a variety of vegetarian, poultry, and beef dishes for everyone to enjoy made with seasonal local ingredients. Because it is based on local availability, the menu will be a surprise (even to us!). When you RSVP, however, we will request dietary restrictions so that we can ensure everyone has what they need.
We recommend guests arrive mid-day Friday and depart any time on Sunday. Please reach out to John or Lydia if you have questions about when to fly in/out of SF.
The Headlands will be a bit cooler than the bay side of Sausalito. The high could be anywhere from the high 60s to low 70s. The chance of a rainy is low, ~14% historically. We're expecting clear skies and sunshine with a windy evening in the mid 50s. Fog is possible later in the evening.
No, but we've added lodging recommendations on the "Travel" page.
Your invitation will indicate whether a plus-one is included. Due to venue capacity, we can only accommodate guests named on the invitation.
We love your little ones, but we expect the wedding will be adults-only. That said, please reach out if there are any circumstances you'd like to discuss.
We will send invites later this summer and will request your prompt RSVP by mid-September. We know you probably have many Halloween parties. We'd love for you to come, but if you know you won't be able to make it, please let John and Lydia know ASAP!
Yes. Please include any dietary restrictions or allergies when you RSVP.
There is one flight of stairs to the ceremony/dance floor on the second floor. Because it's a historical building, there is no elevator. The first floor is fully accessible. Please let us know if you require any specific accommodations.
Please reach out to John or Lydia with any questions before the wedding weekend. On the wedding day, please contact our incredible coordinator Alex Brix!
