In the first week of freshman year, Lydia and a friend walk into a hall mate's room to find it full of six boys playing video games. As is the nature of boys playing video games, little attention was paid to the two girls. Brief introductions were made with one of the boys being named Darren but there was no further discussion. Fast forward several weeks, Darren and Lydia meet once again over a game of beer pong at a party in which Lydia won. A friendship is born. That friendship continues throughout freshman year and starts to develop into something more. Summer arrives and Lydia drags two friends on a 12 hour car ride to ABQ to visit Darren. Upon starting Trinity their sophomore year, the two love birds decide its time to finally make it official.

Lydia comes home on a Friday afternoon in August to find her bags packed and gets whisked away to Fredericksburg on a romantic getaway Darren has planned. On Saturday morning they set out to Lydia's favorite winery for a tour and tasting. As they are eating in the restaurant onsite, Darren turns to Lydia and says "we should go for a walk and checkout that oak tree over there." As they are walking to the tree, Lydia gets distracted by a golden retriever but luckily it walks away before she ruins the moment. They stop at the tree and Lydia asks "Alright, whats happening here? Are we sitting down or what?" In which Darren responds by getting down one knee and asking that one question. Lydia immediately starts balling and obviously said Yes!
