Question

Why a Wednesday?

Answer

To put it simply, it's our day off! For many years, we've been invited to weddings on Saturdays and Sundays, which makes sense for most people. For people in the restaurant industry however, weekends are a difficult time to take off work. With that in mind, we wanted to make sure our restaurant friends don't have to miss a busy service to be with us.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Wear something that makes you feel fancy! That being said, Maine weather can be unpredictable in the fall, so don't be surprised if you need a warmer jacket/beanie for later in the evening. In the event of inclement weather/rain, there is a partially covered pavilion that will protect us somewhat, but having a rain coat or umbrella on hand is not a bad idea. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as the ceremony and most of the party will be on grass/dirt. Keep your stilettos at home.

Question

What should I expect for dinner?

Answer

Oxbow Beer Garden is well known for wood fired pizza, so you can expect lots of that. We will also have passed apps, oysters, beer and wine. We don't expect to have a formal seated dinner, more likely we will have picnic tables set up for guests to choose their own seat and casually peruse the offerings.

Question

How should I get to and from the venue?

Answer

Oxbow Beer Garden is located in a relatively rural area of Maine, so finding public transportation/Uber/taxis is next to impossible, especially on a Wednesday in October. For out of town guests, we recommend renting a car to get around, and for people living in the area, plan ahead, carpool, and designate a driver if you plan on imbibing in alcohol. If you are in a pinch and absolutely need a ride, reach out and we can try to help!

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Sure! Just let us know when you RSVP how many you will have in your party.

Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

Keep your eye on the weather report, and plan accordingly for inclement weather by having raincoats/umbrellas/rainboots/ponchos close at hand. If the weather is so awful that it becomes impossible to do anything outside, I guess we'll have to figure it out. As we like to say, "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes."
