Travel Note
We recommend embracing the Maine cabin life and staying at a local cabin via AirBnB. The wedding will be held at the Lussier Camp on Upper Wilson Pond, which is about a 25 minute drive from downtown Greenville. For those who want to be closer to restaurants/civilization, we recommend staying in the town of Greenville proper, though all of these airbnb's should be within 30 minutes of the wedding location. Not an airbnb fan? We also recommend the Dockside Inn and Tavern, the Greenville Inn at Moosehead Lake, or the Blair Hill Inn (possibly one of the most beautiful views in Maine) if you're feeling particularly fancy.
Travel Note
Welcome to Greenville! Gateway to the Moosehead Lake region and the flashing yellow light that will be your starting point for all driving directions hereafter. Watering holes: -Dockside Tavern: drinks on the lake with a beautiful view. Upscale, polished. Used to give a free "Skinny Dip" sandwich to anyone willing to run off the dock naked. -The Stress Free Moose: great spot to take in some local culture. Naturally occurring live entertainment most nights. Grocery Store: Indian Hill: Food, wine, canoes, fishing gear, live bait. Coffee: Northwoods Outfitters Moosehead Lake: it's an outdoor goods store that inexplicably has a coffee shop inside. Food: Dinner: Same as watering holes + Kelly's Landing which also does breakfast. Pizza: Jamieson's pizza in Greeneville, or Kokadjo's at the dam if you're up for a drive. Something Sweet: The Corner Shop: Great chocolate walnut fudge and a book to read. Dairy Bar: moose tracks ice-cream.
Flight
Portland is the largest Maine airport and is about a 2 hr and 45 min drive from Greenville. Flying into Boston is another option, but driving to Greenville from there will take about 4.5 hours. You are more likely to find direct flights into Boston than Portland particularly from the West Coast. To minimize drive time if you are in Boston or New York, a small local airline called Cape Air has inexpensive puddle jumper flights out of Boston and JFK that connect to many of Maine's smaller airports, so if you're feeling adventurous and want to fly into a small Maine town and rent a car from there, it's another option and you'll get to ride in a six seat airplane :). Note on Cars: if you are flying into any Maine airport and are hoping to rent a car, we recommend reserving well in advance, they go fast in the summer!
Travel Note
The wedding will be held at the Lussier Camp on Upper Wilson Pond. The cabin is located in the Maine backwoods about 25 mins from the town of Greenville down a series of windy gravel roads. We will provide detailed directions to all our guests closer to the wedding date, and are happy to help coordinate car-pooling and DDs as needed.
