Flight
The one and only: Juneau's finest airport! ***Of note when you book flights*** MILK RUNS: whether Seattle is your starting destination or your connection haven, there is a possibility your flight to/from JNU stops at other Southeast Alaskan towns on the way (Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, and/or Sitka). These jumping flights are called "milk runs," and they can either be a fun way to see other SE AK towns, or the largest pain known to mankind. These flights do typically run a little cheaper; the "layover" is roughly 45 minutes, and you do not have to leave the plane. If you plan to explore other SE towns prior to or after the wedding, you will likely be on one of these routes.
Travel Note
The Alaska Marine Highway has numerous routes throughout Southeast Alaska and is a fun and unique way to explore the state! If you hope to make a road trip out of our wedding this would be the way to get your car/RV to Juneau (Auke Bay Ferry Terminal). There is no wifi, so bring that book you’ve been meaning to read! There is a cafeteria on board, but passengers are also welcome to bring coolers with their own meals. On the longer routes public showers are available. There are 3 ports where you can start your journey to Juneau: Bellingham, WA, Haines, AK, or Skagway, AK. The ferry to/from Bellingham, WA takes 3 days. As this is a longer ride you should plan where you will be sleeping! If a cabin is out of your price range it is possible to sleep in a tent in the solarium. The schedule for 2026 is not yet listed but the Summer 2025 schedule currently shows departures from Bellingham to Juneau on Fridays only - so make sure you leave plenty of wiggle room to make it:) This is a wonderful option for those who have a bit more time and want to disconnect for a little bit – you would see LOADS of wildlife. The ferry to/from Haines, AK takes about 5 hours, and the ferry to/from Skagway, AK takes about 8 hours. These ferries are much cheaper and both towns connect to the ALCAN Highway.
Travel Note
We are hoping guests take our wedding as an opportunity to travel and make their own memories in the state we are in love with! As mentioned above, Haines and Skagway are on the road system (the ALCAN Highway) that connects SE Alaska with the "REST" of Alaska - meaning if you plan to visit Anchorage, Fairbanks, Denali, etc. before or after the wedding, you must pass through the Yukon and a little smidge of British Columbia to get from one part of Alaska to the other. This also means you must be able to enter Canada with either a Passport or Enhanced ID! This drive is absolutely beautiful, with many great viewpoints and hiking stops. Haines is an artsy and chill community home to several festivals throughout the summer, and Skagway is a historic gold rush town that has SE AK's only train, which can take you on a very scenic adventure into the mountains. Haines to/from Anchorage is a 14.5 hour drive; to/from Fairbanks 12 hours. Skagway to/from Anchorage is 15.5 hour drive; to/from Fairbanks 13 hours. While the ferry between Haines and Skagway is only a 45 minute ride, driving between towns takes 350 miles as the mountains breakup any direct road path. Other places/communities in Alaska to research when making your travel plans, SE AK: Sitka, Ketchikan, Gustavus Interior AK: Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Chena Hot Springs Southcentral AK: Anchorage, Valdez, Seward, Homer, Seldovia Southwest AK: Bethel, Dutch Harbor and Unalaska, Kodiak Far North AK: Utgiagvik (formerly known as Barrow), Nome
House Or Rental
Hotels in Juneau are on the slimmer side; we included a few here but we definitely encourage you to consider an Airbnb as well - and looking sooner than later. With summer being the busy season, accommodations can fill up fast. If you plan on bringing or renting a car, there really isn't a bad option in terms of neighborhoods to look at! There are many awesome Airbnb's on Douglas Island (the lil cute island connected to Juneau by bridge), in the "Valley" (near the Mendenhall Glacier), in Auke Bay (near the University and ferry terminal), and out the road (.....literally out the road, where the road stops...). If a car is not on your agenda, then Downtown is the way to go! Downtown is where the venue is located, and most tourism companies have a pickup location downtown if you were to partake in any guided adventuring. There are also numerous accessible hiking trails from downtown (checkout that "Things To Do" tab).
