In early January, Jacó experiences the height of the dry season, offering hot, sunny weather with very low rainfall and minimal humidity. Temperatures are consistently warm, featuring daily highs around 85°F and evenings around 70°F. It is one of the best times to visit for beach days, surfing, and outdoor activities.
Short answer: Yes! We love your kiddos and want them there. However, we have one strict rule: children cannot be used as an 'early exit' excuse. We fully expect you to dance the night away with us. Just a heads-up—as the sun goes down, the filters come off the playlist, so expect that the music can get a little more 'grown-up' as the night evolves!
We have consulted the worlds best doctors and the answer is yes! Meghan should be at the conclusion of her recovery. So not only will she be able to have fun, she will strut it down the aisle and no elevated surface will be safe from dancing.
For the rehersal dinner, wedding, and brunch, you can leave your wallets at home. Otherwise, in the resort, in Jaco and across most of the country USD is accepted just as frequently as the Costa Rican Colón. Credit Cards will be accepted almost everywhere you go. Local vendors will offer better prices when paying cash (either USD and CRC). The exchange rate is $1USD=₡450CRC Gas and groceries are comparable to US prices.
Marriott guests have access to the Marriott Pool. Condo guests have access to the pools near their condo as well as the Beach Club pools. Though these are the policies, both pools are connected via a walking path on the ocean side :)
We recommend a few items; The Marriott and the Beach Club pools will be where you find us most often. Both pools have swim up bars and dining options. Stroll through the marina village, there are plenty of nice restaurants and a few shops. Head into downtown. Downtown Jaco is a 10 minute drive away, the main stretch follows the coast and has plenty of shops, restaurants, casinos, and nightlife. There are many adventure tours to go on. Zip-lining is a classic activity to do in Costa Rica and will expose you to seeing some incredible wildlife.
Possibly! Wildlife will be most active in the morning and evenings during cooler temperatures. Monkeys, sloths, and vibrants macaws are some of the highlights that you should keep an eye out for in the resort.
Honestly we don't care that much! Don't be a slob and don't steal attention from Meghan and you are dressed fine. Nice shorts, sandals, and collared short sleeve shirts are welcomed!
We get it, we really do. If you cant make it you will be dearly missed but we will certainly make time to celebrate the next time we are able to get together. If finances are a factor there are flight discounts and room discounts. If you are looking to connect with someone to share a multi room condo with let us know and we can put you in touch with someone in a similar boat.
Just let us know, if we don't want them we will tell you!
There is a 24/7 medial clinic on the resort, right next to the entrance. If you need over the counter medicines, the super markets have what you need! The medical clinic on resort also sells medicine and first aid basics.
Sunscreen - If you have a checked bag bring all the sunscreen you can. The resort and supermarkets up-charge this so much. Bug spray (if you plan to adventure off the resort- ATV, zip lining) - The resort sprays for mosquitoes and they are nearly non existent on the resort. Insulated water bottle - The water in the resort is very much safe to use & drink and you will want an insulated bottle to keep your water cold. Plastic bottles warm up super fast in the heat. A good attitude! - Traveling to SJO, then to the resort will be a long day, but it will be SO worth it. Keep spirits high and prepare to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer!
