Carly was just a girl living in Nashville- alone, confused, and ready for her life to take a turn for the better. Excited to spend a weekend back home in Ohio, she got the mysterious and sudden notification that her flight had been cancelled. So, what else is a frustrated 23 year-old girl to do? On July 1st, 2022, Carly hit the town with some gal pals at their staple bar... Tin Roof on Demonbreun. Little did she know that this cancelled flight would change her life forever. And so the infamous story goes: the Minnesota boy and Ohio girl spotted each other somehow, someway, in the crowded honky-tonk bar. Carly took it upon herself to dance on up to Luke, as she could basically smell the Midwest aroma coming off of him. They both knew there was a special connection made just in that brief first conversation. Within just 24 hours, the two were at Wild Beaver Saloon performing karaoke together, with the help of Patrick Kapla’s bribe to the DJ. Luke and Carly absolutely butchered Elton John’s “Don’t Go Breaking my Heart,” but that was alright because hearts were far from being broken that night. That humid 4th of July weekend in Nashville was the beginning of the best thing to happen to Luke & Carly. After a few months of many phone calls, video calls, and texts, the two decided to commit to a long-distance relationship. Airline points and truck miles were quickly racked up for nearly two years, and it was all worth it. The Hart family quickly fell in love with Luke as did the Schammel family with Carly. They truly believe that fate had a plan for them all along. Luke and Carly now both live in the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois! The time spent living in their favorite city together has been the most enjoyable year of their lives, and they are so thankful to get to be surrounded by such loving friends and pets (shoutout Winnie and Polly). Luke and Carly cannot thank their family and friends enough for all that they have done throughout their lives, all of the love that has been given, and for being the reason we can all celebrate this day. They are so blessed and excited to share such a sacred moment with you. Carly and Luke are beyond thrilled to build a family of their own and to walk alongside each other for the rest of their lives.

Carly's father Dave took her to her first concert in 2009, Taylor Swift. Little did she know that the next time she would see Taylor perform live would be with her fiancé! Luke and Carly traveled to Toronto, CA in November of 2024 to celebrate Carly's 26th birthday and Taylor Swift's much anticipated "Eras Tour." Carly was over the moon excited for this trip ever since she purchased the tickets in Luke's Minneapolis apartment over a year prior. The couple had a fantastic time exploring the city, going to fun restaurants and walking through the Professional Hockey Hall of Fame. The last photo the couple has together as "boyfriend and girlfriend" is with the Stanley Cup. Hours later, as Carly and Luke are preparing for a very exciting night, Carly asked eagerly, "Are you ready?", to which Luke replied, "Yep, but you're just missing one piece of your outfit." Carly turns the corner to find Luke on his knee with the world's most beautiful ring in hand, all while Carly's favorite Taylor Swift song "Enchanted" played in the background. This was Carly's best birthday ever and a night they will both cherish forever!
