We're getting married!

Kylie and Luka's story began in December 2018, when Luka, home in Orange County for winter break, and Kylie, a Chapman student, matched on a dating app. Though they connected, their conversation was brief, as Kylie was soon off to London for a semester abroad. Messages fizzled, and Kylie enjoyed exploring Europe. Then, in August 2019, just a week before Kylie moved back to Chapman for her senior year, Luka sent a memorable message on Hinge: "Knock Knock - it's August. Are you heading back down to Southern California soon? If so, I would love to take you on a date." Their first date was at Golden Road Brewery. Over three hours and a giant pretzel, they found an undeniable spark and a natural ease that left Kylie knowing Luka was special. Six months later, COVID-19 hit, presenting a new challenge of distance. They tackled it with written letters and laughing over "Tiger King" on FaceTime, becoming pros at long-distance love. After Kylie moved back to OC for her first post-grad job, they spent three wonderful years together. When Kylie moved to the Bay Area for a new job opportunity two years ago, their relationship became a testament to their commitment, with countless trips on Southwest Airlines. Their journey has been a delightful blend of fate, fun, travel, and a whole lot of love. They can't wait to continue their adventure, together forever!

Their engagement unfolded on May 25, 2025, during a cherished family trip to the Catamaran Hotel in San Diego. This perfect night was made even more special by the presence of both our families, all part of Luka's grand plan. Kylie had been told they were taking "Christmas card photos" and to wear shades of blue, which prompted her to pack a nice dress. While she secretly hoped this might be the weekend for a proposal, everyone's normal behavior made her believe it wasn't happening. However, when it was time to meet the family for photos, Luka led Kylie down the boardwalk in a different direction. On the sand, she saw an aisle of white roses planted in front of the water. He knelt down on one knee and proposed. Kylie immediately said "YES!" A photographer then emerged from the bushes, documenting the moment, followed by their families running over, yelping with excitement and joy. After sunset and photos, everyone celebrated with dinner at the hotel, watching the SeaWorld fireworks and recapping the entire, perfectly executed proposal. It was truly the best day of their lives, made even better by sharing it with their families.
