REAL ID / PASSPORT
As Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the U.S.A., American citizens do not need a passport to enter. However, as of May 7, 2025, U.S.A. travelers do need to present a REAL ID compliant license/ID, ENHANCED license/ID or a PASSPORT to board commercial flights. Travelers who fail to produce a REAL ID or an accepted alternative may not be allowed through TSA security checkpoints.

Uber
Uber is a rideshare service available in Puerto Rico. It is the only main rideshare app currently operating on the island. At San Juan Airport (“SJU”, Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport). Uber pickups are generally located on the ground floor of Terminals A and B/C in designated rideshare pickup zones. Look for signs indicating "Uber" or "Rideshare Pickup" and follow the instructions in the Uber app for the exact location. If you are leaving the airport from the main luggage carousel area (with several carousels), when you walk out you will see a building with brightly lit rental car signs across the street. Do not cross the street. The 2 Uber pick up spots are either to the far left of that or to the far right (where you see higher numbered columns).
