Chapter One: Written Long Before We Met

If this story were found between the pages of a beloved romance novel, it would begin long before either of us knew the other existed. In one corner of the world, a young girl from Recife, Brazil, carried a dream in her heart, a dream of one day living in the United States. In another, a boy from Cali, Colombia, spent years cheering for Brazil during every World Cup, never knowing that one day his life would become intertwined with that of a Brazilian girl. They were separated by countries, cultures, languages, and thousands of miles. And yet, Heaven had already begun writing their story. For years, their lives unfolded in parallel chapters, each pursuing their own dreams, each collecting memories, victories, heartbreaks, and lessons. Neither could have imagined that among billions of people in the world, their paths would one day cross in a foreign land. But God, the Author of the greatest love stories, had other plans. The United States became the setting. Friendship became the opening scene. There was no dramatic beginning, no grand declaration beneath the stars. Instead, there were conversations that lingered longer than expected, laughter that came effortlessly, shared passions for soccer, dance, and music, and a comfort that felt strangely familiar, as though their souls had somehow known each other long before they met. The finest love stories are rarely rushed. They bloom quietly. What began as friendship slowly transformed into something deeper, something undeniable. Somewhere between ordinary moments and extraordinary memories, affection became admiration, admiration became love, and love became home. Two cultures began to dance together. Brazil met Colombia. His traditions became hers. Her dreams became his. And little by little, two separate worlds became one. The truth is, neither of us was searching for a fairy tale. Yet somehow, we found one. Not because life became perfect, but because we found a person with whom every chapter became worth reading. A best friend. A confidant. A teammate. A safe place. The kind of love that feels less like being found and more like coming home. Looking back now, it is impossible not to see the fingerprints of God on every page. Every delay, every detour, every unanswered question was quietly leading us toward one another. And so, what began as a friendship became a love story. What began with two hearts became one future. And what began with a Brazilian girl and a Colombian boy became the beautiful beginning of The Salazars. The next chapter, at long last, begins on December 18, 2026. "He has made everything beautiful in its time." Ecclesiastes 3:11
