Our Story
How did they meet?
Matt and Lucy met when they were 14 at St. David's High School in Raleigh. They were friends for a few years, went to a dance together sophomore year, and had classes together, but it wasn't until a trip to Falls Lake with a group of friends at school that their interests became something more. After several hangouts with friends and a few dates, Matt asked Lucy to be his girlfriend on October 22nd, 2020, and the rest is history!
How did he propose?
On May 25th, 2025, Matt proposed to Lucy on the dock at his parents' home in Easton, Maryland. In a heartfelt gesture, he had secretly learned to play the guitar and had been practicing Chris Stapleton’s "Joy of My Life" since October of 2024 to perform it for her during the proposal. After the magical moment, Lucy’s family—who had been hiding out at the neighbor’s house—joined the celebration. Both families then took a boat to the Inn at Perry Cabin for a special dinner together.
