How did we meet? We met when we were 14 at St. David's High School in Raleigh. We were friends for a few years, went to a dance together sophomore year and had classes together, but it wasn't until a trip to Falls Lake with a group of friends at school when our interest became something more. After several hangouts with friends and a few dates Matt asked Lucy to be his girlfriend October 22nd of 2020 and the rest is history. How did he proposed? On May 25th, 2025, Matt proposed to Lucy on the dock at his parents' home in Easton, Maryland. In a heartfelt gesture, he had secretly learned to play the guitar and had been practicing Chris Stapleton’s Joy of My Life since October to perform for her during the proposal. After the magical moment, Lucy’s family—who had been secretly waiting at the neighbor’s house—joined the celebration. Both families then took a boat to the Inn at Perry Cabin for a special dinner together.
