Our Story

Jen and Kurt’s story begins long before either of them realized it. Both growing up in South Brunswick, New Jersey, they attended South Brunswick High School together, ran in similar circles, and somehow even ended up Facebook friends, but never truly crossed paths. After graduation, they each set off on their own journeys - Jen heading into a fast-paced career in Manhattan, building her life in the entertainment and sports world, and Kurt diving into business operations for a digital marketing agency that eventually took him all the way to San Francisco. As life would have it, both found their way back home, and unknowingly, toward each other. Enter Studio 43 Hair Salon. Julie (Jen’s sister-in-law, the salon owner, and arguably the most persistent matchmaker of all time) had long been convinced that Kurt and Jen needed to meet. For over a year and a half, she tried to orchestrate a run-in during Kurt’s routine haircuts… but somehow, it never quite worked out. Eventually, Jen reached out to Kurt on Facebook and suggested they meet for drinks at The Cranbury Inn. Kurt, slightly skeptical (and still half-convinced Jen might be recruiting him into a multi-level marketing scheme), agreed - and the rest is history. Their first year together was filled with nonstop adventures, big and small. From ringing in their very first New Year’s Eve together in New Orleans, to exploring Ireland, walking down Main Street at Disney, grabbing their favorite beers at Tree House Brewing Company, chasing sunsets in Cannon Beach, soaking up summer days in Long Beach Island, and squeezing in countless weekend trips with family, they built a rhythm of always having something to look forward to. Along the way, Kurt introduced Jen and her family to his love of disc golf - while he plays Jen proudly cheers him on (and occasionally caddies). Their first Valentine’s Day was spent in Asbury Park, a place that quickly became special to them, and one they’re so excited to return to as they celebrate their wedding weekend with all of you. We’ll be hosting our wedding just 10 minutes away and can’t wait to share some of our favorite spots and recommendations around town (a place Jen has also spent many fun nights out with friends over the years). In September 2025, they took the next big step and moved in together. Jen joined Kurt in his home, his family home in “Cranbilly” (South Brunswick) - and they’ve been having fun ever since making it their own. Not long after, they hosted their very first Christmas Eve together, starting what they hope will be a lifetime of traditions filled with family, friends, and a very full house. They’ve spent countless days walking through Cranbury, especially over the Brainerd Lake Bridge, whether heading to trivia nights or simply enjoying time together. It was on that very bridge that Kurt proposed, a place tied to so many of their everyday moments. Afterward, they celebrated their engagement surrounded by both of their families and the incredible Cranbury Inn staff who had been part of their story from the very beginning, bringing everything full circle in the most meaningful way. From high school almosts, to cross-country journeys, to one perfectly timed Facebook message - Jen and Kurt are so excited for everything ahead and can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
