Contra Dance

Wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle--it gets hot! Shoes for dancing. *Open to all family and friends in town!*
This is a weekly contra dance held on Thursday evenings at Warren Wilson College that we often go to. The dance costs $12 cash/Venmo at the door. Lesson from 7:30-8pm. If you've never been to a contra dance before, it's like square dancing but more fun. There is a live band (usually a fiddle and a guitar and sometimes a keyboard or acoustic bass) and a caller on stage who teaches the dances. Anyone can contra dance (if you can walk and follow directions, you can dance!), and you don't need to bring a partner. Everyone dances with each other! Contra dance has a special place in our hearts and love story. We first met through the contra community and spent some of our first dates dancing together. Lucille grew up dancing and has been contra dancing for over 10 years. Morgan found contra during college after leaving the UNC Asheville swim team. We were both reluctant to go to our first contra dances but quickly became hooked. We hope you will join us for this casual night of dancing.

Lucille and Morgan's Wedding

Please wear whatever makes you feel the most beautiful (or handsome). Also our wedding will be outdoors and in an open-air barn, so dress for the weather. All who are able will be sitting on the ground on blankets during the ceremony. Wear shoes that you are comfortable walking up a gentle grassy hill in. It may get cooler in the evening, so bring a layer if you plan to stay later in the night.
We want to celebrate our marriage publicly to mark this moment of becoming a family and to be witnessed and held as we set the foundations for the values in our marriage. We want this weekend to feel leisurely, connected, and out-of-time. We want YOU to enjoy spending time with family and meeting our close people. Dancing and good food and sweet moments are what matter to us on this day. What does all that mean? Please participate in singing and dancing even if it isn't your thing. Put away your phone and be present with those around you (don't worry, we have a photographer), and meet someone new. Everyone present matters to us. *This is a loose schedule. We will be flowing with the day.* 3pm - charcuterie and mingling with music from Lambeth Hill 4pm - ceremony 5:00 - facilitated singing. Yes, you will be singing with us! 5:45 - open time, walk property, mingle and chat, etc. 6:15pm- dinner 7:00pm - speeches and dessert 8:00pm - dancing 10:00pm - fire time and music jam
